This barbecue joint isn't shy. A huge sign on the roof of The Corner Stable proclaims: The Best Ribs in Baltimore. Their Web site claims they have the best crab cakes in town, not an idle boast in the city that for all practical purposes invented them. But many people believe this Cockeysville institution has the best takeout, too. It's hard to argue against that because a steady stream of traffic passes by their takeout window day and night, lining up for mouthwatering baby back ribs, tender broasted chicken and jumbo crab cakes. And when we say joint, we mean that it the nicest way. The decor at the comfy Stable isn't upscale -- wagon wheel chandeliers, ancient, scarred wooden booths -- but, if you're fussy about that kind of thing, the food will make you forget it. The waitresses are friendly and they make you feel right at home here. -- Penny Colston

    THE STABLE OPENED WITH THE 1st DECENT RIBS & GARLIC FFs A COUPLE DECADES AGO AND IT HAS BEEN SOLD SEVERAL TIMES & GONE DOWNHILL EVER SINCE. BALTIOMRE IS NOT FAMOUS FOR ANY KIND OF RIBS AT ANY OF THE RIB- OFFERINGS AROUND TOWN -- (BUT, WE ARE KNOWN FOR CRAB CAKES & FISH) THE ONLY FAIR OFFERINGS AT ANY OF THE LISTED RIB JOINTS GET A 4 or 5 OUT OF 10 RATING. GO TO K.C. FOR RIBS. CONSIDER IT LIKE WANTING A BURGER and GETTING IT FROM MICKEY the D's ARCH ... SO, YOU ATE A BURGER AND UR FULL NOW, BUT LET'S FACE IT -- IT WASN'T THAT GOOD"

    Love this joint!
    Ready to make the 10 hour trip right now!
    Ribs are maybe te best I have ever had. They do something with shoestring french fries that I still don't understand. They are delicious.
    Crab cakes are reputed to be the best. Like Keith Olberman says -"Wanna fight about it?"
    Bo Brooks might have something to say about this claim.
    Doesn't change it for me-I am still on the way!!

    This place has the best ribs anywere we come down here before the md state fair. They have the juisest ribs and they have the best sause that they put on theur ribs. I have ate at ALOT of rib places but this is the best one by far.

    We travel to The Corner Stable a couple times of the year, just for their food. My personal fav. THE RIBS and fries smothered in the best b-b-q in the world.....it's awesome....try it. Never had the crab cake, because I always get the ribs.....but, they say they are great! The service is excellent too and the people are very friendly...it's a great place to go. But, go early because it gets busy!

    The Corner Stable was perfect, just excellent. Unassuming location, holding down expectations just a bit. Texas~roadhouse/icehouse decor, big tables and booths. Very friendly and fast service, perfect pulled pork (wife) and beef "au jus" with tons of delicious fries. Cold drinks, hot food. People kept coming in a very steady stream, even for a Saturday lunch at 1:30. Worth the trip from Bel Air, we'll take guests there next time. Thanks, y'all

    It's worth the trip from New Jersey just for the ribs and crabcakes. They are AMAZING! We didn't know anything about this place but tried it because it was obviously popular with the locals. Now a visit to Maryland would not be complete without a stop at the Corner Stable!
