The scene at this Mount Vernon institution has changed little in its 35-plus years: The cozy, underground space is defined by elegant arches and flickering candlelight. Career waiters slip between tightly-packed tables topped with white linen and colorful pitchers of sangria, delivering generous portions of traditional yet innovative Spanish cuisine. Continental entrees such as filet of sole with bananas and hollandaise sauce and beef in a sherry sauce with mushrooms are splendid examples of the creativity displayed by the chef. Two of the best known dishes -- the paella and the roast suckling pig -- take extra prep time, so come early and enjoy some sangria while you wait. End the night with the legendary pine nut cake roll or the chocolate souffle.
This is a nice place to take a date when you don't mind leaning in for an intimate conversations. Large groups may find themselves shouting across the table, adding to the considerable noise level. Reservations are an absolute must, and even with them you may wait. -- Laureen Miles Brunelli

Love it!
My family has been going to Tio's since it opened, and never once have we had a bad experiance. The food is divine, and well worth any wait. There is nothing bad on the menu, and even a few items not on the menu that are amazing. The intimate setting makes it great for dates, or large groups in one of the side rooms. Tio Pepe's is a must go for anybody visiting Baltimore.

Best Restaurant in Baltimore.
Want to have the best entree of your life?
Get the trio. It has Shrimp, Crab Meat, Lobster, and Champagne sauce. It may be $40 some dollars, but it is worth it. You only live once.horrible experience
I had a terrible experience at this restaurant. I was verbally and racially assaulted by another diner at a birthday dinner. This diner came up to my table and yelled at my party, frequenting racial slurs and obscenities. The restaurant staff was completely useless in coming to my defense. The offender was not asked to leave, and I was not compensated for my meal; the overall staff attitude was indifference. I must say I used to enjoy this restaurant's food, but I cannot eat at a place that allows such blatant assault to occur unstopped.
Better than I thought!
We went as a good-bye dinner for a fellow teacher. I loved this place (however I was a bit taken back by the price... I knew it was on the higher end but I guess I was taken back a lil bit but it was worth every cent).
2 people had the shrimp in garlic sauce for an app and it was great! It came out and it wasnt what I pictured but good! I had the one salad with a million toppings and it was YUMMY! For dinner I had the roast duck and it was WONDERFUL. ! person had the roast suckling pig and it too was good! Everyone said it was yummy each item they had. We tried a few diffren desserts. One of my favorite was their popular pine nut cake roll.
The wait staff is dressed tot he 9's and is very friendly. Good place for Special Occasion Dining. Overall i was very impress out of 5 starts I would give it 4 1/2
Had the Red Sangria and it was YUMMYThe Greatest
Love Tio's - we've gone there for the last ten years for our anniv. (2/23) and I have only chosen another place once...back to Tio's...it's a drive for us to come from DE. so we stay over and enjoy the town but most of all the Best Dinner and Restaurant Baltimore has to offer. We'll be back again this year.

The Best Restaurant Ever
Tio Pepe's is the best restaurnat ever!!! For any special occasion, or even when we just crave it, my fiance (babe)and I absolutely love Tio's. We always begin with a pitcher of the wonderful Sangria, mixed to perfection. The garlic shrimp are delicious and plentiful. For the entree, we get the filet and the stuffed rockfish with crabmeat in a champagne sauce and share them both. It is quite the treat for your tastebuds. We can never leave without finishing up with a spanish coffee, which is almost as interesting to watch being prepared as it is tasty. The pie nut dessert is also scrumptous. I could go on and on about Tio's and I will never understand those who give it bad reviews. I've never had trouble with reservations being prompt and the service is always wonderful. People who give Tio's a bad review obviously have a bad attitude going into it. A nice, classy restaurant for classy people. :)
