When we say "Aussie alternative," let's dispense this disclaimer: Actual Australians say the offerings are much different than what you'd find back home. Nonetheless, the food here is tremendous. Outback specializes in steaks, cooked with a zesty flavor that is distinctive and enjoyable. The ribs are especially flavorful, and the coconut shrimp is worth the trip, too. The atmosphere is casual. There's frequently a moderate wait for a table here.
Don't look for Outback's typical tin roof outlined in red neon at the Canton location. This outpost of the Aussie eatery makes its home in an old factory in the Can Company. It's one of the only national chains with a foothold in this urban neighborhood. Curb service - a rarity in a city neighborhood - makes it popular with locals heading home, and visitors drop in for a familiar and friendly meal before heading out to the neighborhoods many bars.

Lawdrummer - 07/10/2008Try any of the following (NYC) steak houses and then vote again: Peter Luger's; Angelo and Maxie's; Sparks; Ben Bensons. You'll see the difference between a restaurant and sit-down dumpster diving.

WCOLL - 06/16/2008The Outback is the fast food of steak. Obviously there are a lot of inexperienced people rating these restuarants if the outback could beat out places like Mortons or Ruth Chris.

tkirbyauto - 08/09/2007Yes at times you do have to wait for a table, but call ahead and when you get there you are only waiting about 5 minutes. I have been to expensive steak houses and have been disappointed. I can honestly say whenever I have eaten at Outback the food is always good.

robedown4 - 02/20/2007If you like your steaks highly seasoned to the point it hides the flavor of the beef you will like Thye Outback. I agree yhe ribs and shrimp are very good . I would not list the outback number to in this group of steakhouses..
