Steamed blue crabs can be pricey -- cost is determined by market availability and the hard shell's size. But your investment always pays dividends at Obrycki's, which is open March through November, when crabs are plentiful. Just like the red-brick restaurant tucked into upper Fells Point, steamed crabs pack plenty of delights in their crusty, crimson shells.

Getting dirty while you pick your crabs is half the fun, though there are bibs for the timid (or the business-suited folks trying to close deals with mallets in hand). Obrycki's seasoning is a delectable blend, with just enough salt to complement the sweetness of the crab and ample pepper to give the crustaceans some bite (and you thought Emeril invented "Bam!").

Not into cracking and whacking? Obrycki's also satisfies with crab cakes, including a deep-fried, deviled variety. Those who want it all (except the mess of steamed crabs) might opt for the Treasures of Seafood platter, which offers enough seafood to pack your hull. Obrycki's is a favorite haunt of athletes and movie stars passing through Charm City, so don't be surprised to see a celebrity waiting on line. During peak summer months, expect a wait. The restaurant is only open March through November. -- Pete Kerzel

  • Eat Here The Best

This is an awsome place to eat at. The soft crab sandwich is something to die for. My dad said our server was the best server he has had anywhwere. We also had crabs that were out of this world good so dont listen to all the bad reviews this is my favorite place ever. This is a must try place here in baltimore city.

Way overrated! Over priced and a pure tourist trap! I've lived in Baltimore for 42 years.

Travel a bit from the harbor and go to a little place in Essex (Mr. Bills).

This place has the best crabs and I have eaten crabs all my life!
The seasoning is crazy ! Who would think to put salt and pepper
on a crab? Old bay just doesn't taste the same anymore. The size of the crabs are unbelievable. If you are true crab lover this
will be a treat. Service is good ,I drive from Va to get my fix.

The crabs are prepared with to much Old Bay. Some patrons were insulting to the wait staff and near by patrons. Over all not a good experience. Go to Mike's in Annapolis, the crabs are always great.

We eat steamed crab regularly throughout the summer, so we did not order hard crabs (though the table next to us did - they looked beautiful and seemed to have plenty of meat).

Husband had double crab cake platter. Cakes were beautifully broiled, not overcooked and we could not figue out what held them together as there was mostly gorgeous lumps of crabmeat and very minimal filler. Very clean and true to taste. French fries were standard. Corn on cob ok. Both side dishes were nice sized portions. House brew beer was decent enough to order a second.

I had soft crabs platter, but asked for them sauteed (Obrycki's norm is deep fried & I think deep frying a soft crab should be a crime!) They were beautiful and tasty! Creamed cucumbers were creamy and crisp - a must try! Roasted red potatoes were very nice except I was only served two quarter pieces and four small pieces (maybe 8th or 16ths)...totaling about one whole small red potato.

Dessert...well, their website brags about their eclairs...and I have no idea why. The pastry was hard, dry & tasteless. Custard was ok. The amount of chocolate on top was obscene. Husband had bread pudding & we disagree on its quality. It was a HUGE serving (easily enough for two). We agree it had too many raisins, but I though it had a lovely, rich flavor & nice texture. He felt it was too dry (I hate wet bread pudding!) We also ordered a slice of their key lime pie to take home. A nice key lime pie, nothing to write home about, but MUCH better than the eclair. Nice balance of tangy and sweet.

We loved our entrees, we enjoyed the atmosphere and we were very impressed with the outstanding service. Perfect balace of professional and friendly. Restaurant was very clean. Some street parking, but just spring for th $5 lot across the street. Obrycki's is a B'more must try!
