Imagine Fells Point as a universe, in which two types of worlds exist: the preppy/conservative world and the alternative/hipster world. Max's on Broadway is the "axis mundi" ("center of the world") for the preppies. And because both of these worlds are driven by common interests (the desire to consume large quantities of alcohol at reasonable prices), Max's on Broadway offers its inhabitants an extensive beer menu. One is immediately entranced by a long refrigerator that rests behind the bar displaying almost every beer known to man. At Max's, the lower level caters to sports fans and pool players, while the upper floor is lined with tables and cushioned chairs. On the upper floor, fresh and saltwater fish tanks add to the ambience, while tall windows offer a fabulous overlook of the Fells Point bar district. The upper floor is also cigar-friendly, so light 'em if you got 'em. Even if you're scoping, you can't miss the top-notch bartenders who enjoy performing their behind-the-bar antics, like eating fire. Whatever world you come from, you'll have a grand time!

sincere1y b - 05/14/2008place is absolutely fantastic. great selection of national and international beers that i just haven't found anywhere else. and their staff is wonderful and so much fun to be around. i've been to too many bars, but this one i'll always land back at.

allbutstern - 05/13/2008honestly, this is the best place ever. i have lived in many cities, been to many places, and this is the best. everything, from the environment to the service to the quality of product is top notch. everyone i take there also seems to enjoy it, its the kind of place you can never get enough of.

nick222zap - 10/20/2002The mobtown lounge is the PERFECT place for a cigar and a beer. The gorgeous Rebecca will help you select both with knowledge and a great smile. The window seat at the bar looks out over the harbor and overlooks the denizens below, on Broadway, looking for their next pub. The beer selection here has to be seen to be believed.
