Wayne Mahaffey wants you to try a new beer every week. When he opened his new pub back in February 2002 on the site of the former Canton Cabana (behind the Safeway), he knew he was going to be a small fry in the burgeoning Canton bar scene and would have to do something special. He came up with the rotating tap.
Mahaffey's features eight different drafts. Four stay the same. There is always Miller, Miller Lite, Yuengling and hard cider. The other four pour different microbrews that change constantly. Every time a keg runs out, Mahaffey switches it for a different beer. "There are so many good beers available in the Baltimore area," he says. "I want to encourage people to try all of them." He makes it affordable, too. From 4-8PM, Monday-Saturday, happy hour prices include three 12-ounce drafts for $5. Mahaffey's also serves food -- sandwiches, burgers, etc., including the ubiquitous Canton blackened tuna bites. On Thursday nights, the place often features guest bartenders, customers or local organizations, pouring drinks for charity. -- Tod Harrick

I was inroduced to "Waynes" from mutual friends and I've been going ever since. The locals enjoy the 100 Beer Club, and the food is made to perfection. This pub may be off the main Canton path but it is a shining gem you shouldn't pass on.

We were lucky enough to find Mahaffey's when it very quietly opened it's doors to a neighborhood "in need" of a local pub with that "extra something". We no longer live in the neighborhood, but make the trip AT LEAST twice a week for "Steak Night", an UNBELIEVABLE beer selection, and most importantly...GOOD COMPANY! Thanks to Wayne and all his Staff, for giving us a place where "everybody knows your name", and every time is a good time!
