With its exciting, modern Italian menu, one of the North End's smallest restaurants delivers large culinary rewards.
A true gem among all those rhinestones in the North End, this rustic, but cozy trattoria with stucco walls and beamed ceilings specializes in creative interpretations of Italian classics. The bad news is that there's no coffee or dessert. The good news is that you can work off dinner with a stroll around the neighborhood before stopping someplace on Hanover Street for an espresso and a pastry.Visit Citysearch.com

With its exciting, modern Italian menu, one of the North End's smallest restaurants delivers large culinary rewards.

The Scene
With only about a dozen tables, this popular Salem Street restaurant guarantees an intimate atmosphere, especially on weekends, when the place is packed and harried waiters struggle to recite the nightly specials over the noisy crowd. Still, gourmands and well-informed tourists put up with the prohibitive noise levels and cramped seating arrangements in order to enjoy some of the North End's most adventurous dining. With its soft lighting, stucco walls and beamed ceilings, the dining room sports a slightly rustic vibe.

The Food
Chicken parm wishes and lasagna dreams are thwarted by Terramia's far-reaching, modern Italian menu--nowhere else in the neighborhood can diners enjoy an order of sweet lobster fritters with a tangy balsamic-honey glaze. The ever-changing menu incorporates seasonal vegetables and the catch of the day. Homemade pasta dishes feature unconventional preparation styles--ravioli is served open-faced, with scallops, shrimp and zucchini, in a lobster mascarpone sauce.

Save Money
With the menu's relatively high prices in mind, budget-minded diners should split a starter and skip the wine (a glass of house red or white costs $8).

Know Before You Go
Big groups beware--a 20 percent gratuity is added to parties of five or more.

Know Before You Go
Hoping for a sweet--or caffeinated--finish? Expect to head down the street to one of the North End's famous bakeries, as Terramia does not serve dessert or coffee.

First time there. Been meaning to go forever. The host greeted us like we were regulars. Food, service, wine list, prices, tutti buonissimo (everthing great). Sat right down at our reservation time. The waiters split dishes, poured wine, were very attentive, not intrusive. They know what they're doing. Closest thing to the italian experience you're going to get outside of Italy. Don't delay like I did, go now. Parked in NY Yankees parking lot on Cooper St around the corner. Price for parking ($15) was worth it just to see this parking guy with all his Yankee banners etc in the middle of Red Sox Nation. What next.

This is what we should eat every day, real Italian food made out of fresh ingredients. Good service , cozy atmosphere for a small Restaurant like Terramia. Located in North End (little Italy of Boston) Strongly recommend it.

Not having been to the North End in along time for dinner due to the construction, we decided to go back and
try one of our old time favorites, Terramia.
    It's been a couple of
years since we had dined there. I didn't
think it was possible, but it was even better
    than we had remebered!
    The restaurant is small
    and cozy with only 12
tables. The food is superb and the service
    is equally wonderful.
    We will not allow the
    traffic and
    construction to stop us
    from coming into Boston
for a fabulous dinner at our favoite
    restaurant, TERRAMIA.

We ate at Terramia last night and again one more exceptional dining experience. We have never been disappointed in all the years we've been cominfg here. We were with a party of 6 and everyones dish was completely differnt from the next and the flavors of the sauces were never repeated. This is one truly exceptional Italian restaurant!! If you want a great Italian restaurant then try Terramia; I'm sure you will be very happy with this wonderful restaurant. Almost forgot, the servers were very attentive and gave us exceptional service!!

I have been eating at Terramia for the past 7 years and it has been the most consistently fabulous food I have ever eaten. I have tried other restaurants but always come back to Terramia. The quality and the freshness of every entree is superb!!! I recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves great Italian food!! The best the North End has to offer!

I have been coming to Terramia since its opening. I always tried other restaurants in between but found myself revisiting Terramia more often than the others. The food here is extraordinary and consistent and the wait staff is professional and friendly. Although the food here is expensive the portion sizes are hearty and definitely worth every penny. After your finished with dinner, you will not have any room left for dessert. So,don't worry when you read they do not serve coffee or dessert.I have recently been back to Terramia and there was an entire new menu and many specials. The food just keeps getting better! There is no other Italian restaurant in Boston as good as Terramia. They have been in existence for 10 years and I'm looking forward to 10 more! everytime and the service is
