While you'll no doubt be satisfied with a meal at any of the 10 Pizzeria Regina locations in Massachusetts, there's a point in time when you really need to experience the original location -- the treasured space that lies in the heart of Boston's Little Italy, the one still surrounded by street after street of fabulous food aromas like tomato sauce, garlic and fresh baked breads.

Not much has changed inside the original location on Thatcher Street since 1926, and that's what makes it even more special. The old brick ovens continue to produce perfection: Neapolitan-style pizzas from an old Polcari family recipe, topped with all-natural ingredients, beginning with a flavorful sauce made from plump, fresh California tomatoes, special seasonings, and topped with a unique blend of hand shredded cheeses.

Pizzeria Regina offers a copious menu of pizzas. You can order something as simple as the Margherita with tomato sauce, fresh chopped basil with mozzarella and Pecorino Romano cheese or the Giambotta which weighs in at a full three pounds all stacked with traditional toppings. If you're a foodie, you might want to create your own pizza from a mix-and-match list of more than 20 mouth-watering toppings, then pair up with an icy cold beer or soda, which are still sold on tapby the pint or pitcher. It's a great place to lose yourself after a day of shopping at Faneuil Hall or playing Boston tourist.

It's obvious that people in the Boston area dont know what pizza is really supposed to taste like!!! I had the displeasure of trying to consume a slice and is was the most flimsy, greasy pizza slice I had ever tasted. The sourdough crust does not help either. There is one in NJ and I literally was throwing up in the bathroom. Then when I tols the manager that it didnt taste right, he gave me an attitude!!!!!!!!!! There are plenty places in NJ and NY that serve really great pizza!!! Pizzeria Regina is definitely not one of them

Follow the winding street of the north end, dodge out of the way of cars flying around the barely larger then one lane streets, and find your self in a line that goes 1/2 way down the block. Rain or shine this line is always there and yet you rarely wait more then 20 min to get in. The rough hostess with a thick Boston accent hustles you into a booth 1/2 the size of your parties needs, you barely hit the seat when you are being asked "what ya gonna have?". You order a pie (because they do not sell by-the-slice) of your favorite toppings and a pitcher of a beer fro the limited selection of locally popular golden ales. She is walking back to put your order in before you're quite done as another group is rushed past after they throw cash (no cards, and the ATM is 5 blocks away) on the table. The waitress scoops up the dough and wipes down the table with a wet cloth, as the table was cleared as the bill was dropped off, just in time for the next group sliding in. You smell another table's pizza as it arrives and get excited as your know it will only be a matter of minutes before your pie arrives. The small TV mounted in the far corner of the restaurant is playing a sports game of some kind and this distracts you for a minute or so, and the next thing you know, your delicious 14inch steaming pizza has arrived. The cheese is boiling hot and the crust is crunchy and yet hot and the beer is cold as it slides down your throat. It is so good that you scarf the pie between you and before it even completely swallowed your table is cleared, your bill has arrived, and your waitress is preparing to rush you out so the next group waiting in line can come in. You throw down some cash and stumble outside, dazed from the feelings of euphoria, and complete satisfaction that are still washing over your body. Then the plan is make your way east through the cobble streets of the North End and head into one of the delicious pastry shops on Hanover Street.
