Kenmore Square has long been considered a cornerstone of Boston, what with it being home to Fenway Park and all. But with the renaissance of this once-grungy square, its true roots of stylishness are showing. The Foundation Lounge is, true to its name, at the core of that fashionable hipness. Imagine a fusion of Los Angeles' cool attitude, cutting-edge European style, and Asian elegance, and you have an image of the classy-yet-funky Foundation. As DJs from around the globe swing by to drop beats for the evening, you can kick back and recline on one of the low plush couches, each upholstered in a different exotic animal pattern. Or head into the second room, where local artists' work is regularly on display, or linger on the patio (if weather allows) or belly up to the marble-ceilinged bar, where reflective lighting makes each liquor bottle look like a valuable sculpture. Bartenders pour a range of standards, like martinis and mojitos, but they're not afraid to veer on the side of creativity, offering concoctions like Coconut Coffee and Wild Mango Martinis. Creativity is also the keyword in the kitchen. Foundation's chefs have developed a Zensai menu, which is basically a glamorous way of saying "Japanese-inspired finger food." Nibble on tempting gems like the Manguro fresh spring roll, made with fresh tuna and mango, or salmon bruschetta. If upscale down-tempo is your scene, this is the place to be seen.

Best place in Boston
I've been going to this place almost every Wednesday for the past 3 years (until I moved from Boston).
At this point Foundation feels like home. Staff is always taking care of you, drinks are the best in the city, thematic parties are actually fun, people are hot, music is interesting (even though I'd want more electronic - I'm european).
Basically if you want real world class - London/NYC/Moscow/Tokyo-style party in Boston you've got no choice - it's foundation loungeAdd Commentpoor service

Very poor service. Have frequently been to this place in the last three years, but very disappointed by the way the service has declined. Staff is very rude. Bouncers have people wait in line for prolonged periods of time when there is no one inside, so they can get additonal "tips". not clear to me why they don't just charge a cover instead of making people jump through these circus hoops. Will not be going back.
To the

person that said "never set foot in the place." How about you try going in first and then seeing whether you like it or not. Kenmore square used to be lively and vibrant until bu decided to annex it as hitler did to czechoslovakia (notice how you spelled it). That was a horrible and farfetched analogy. Next time, write your own opinion after having experienced it instead of basing your "reviews" on derivations from the opinions of others.
never set foot in the place
but having heard from someone who did I was disgusted. $9.00 for a dead shot in a bloody mary of cheap bar vodka? In the first place the hotel commonweath was the ruination of a neighborhood. kenmore square used to be lively and vibrant until bu decided to annex it as hitler did to czecheslovia. this place is a dump.
