A serious, superb steakhouse attracts high rollers and local celebs to the foot of Newbury St.

The Scene
It's a bull market every night as countless business types carouse over expensive steaks and drinks. A stuffy, members-only atmosphere takes nothing away from the dining experience. The amazing wine list has won "Wine Spectator's" Award of Excellence. Service is truly exceptional, as waiters take pride in their efforts.

The Food
Traditional, filling steakhouse fare is impeccably presented to beef-lovers of all stripes. The dry-aged steaks, hand-cut daily, are good enough to make you forget there's a real world outside the restaurant. As the entrees are served a la carte, huge portions of excellent sides (mashed potatoes, creamed spinach, sauteed mushrooms) are a must. Fantastic seafood dishes are available, but steak's the star here, especially the steak au poivre, which comes drizzled in cognac sauce. Exceptional desserts include an unbelievably light cheesecake and a pistachio-covered key lime pie

    Food was just okay, waiters were okay, receptionist was beyond snobbish. Would rather go to the Oak Room. Much nicer experience and atmosphere for the same money.

    I love steak...point blank...so as you can guess I've had more steak then I can imagine. But the capital grill tops them all, with excellent service, delicious food, and a casual atmosphere. This restaurant while located near the heart of the city, is a reminder that true steak houses still exist in the old traditions. All of the food was mouth watering and far better then you could expect to get. The waiters are friendly and don't mind chatting on what you did or did not like about the food(never had a dislike). Be prepared to pull out the wallet on this one, but everything that you get is well worth the money. P. S. the Corona steak is the best of them all.

    I have friends visinting me from London, Kenya and as far away as Sri Lanka... When I want to show them "well-done", by Bsotn standards, I take them to the Capital Grille. The food is superb, the ambience is rich and magnetic. The pineapple vodka is not for the faint of heart and is quite delicious! Capital Grille is a class act!

    The Grille is the a phenomenal place for food, wine, other great libations (Stoli Dolis), and atmosphere. It is a consistent delicious menu for steaks, fish, and side dishes. The creativity factor may not be large, but I like to know what I am getting at any steak house and the Grille delivers on its promise. The staff is professional and that is also important in any didning experience. I miss the days of cigar smoke filling up the bar area, but my clothes and lungs are better off w/o that cloudy atmosphere.
    This is a great place for almost any special occasion, but be ready for an indulgent experience.
