With a location right next to Fenway Park, Boston Beer Works certainly has an edge over other restaurants on game day. The place fills to capacity, with lines sometimes just to get in. It's the kind of place you love or you hate, or maybe you just tolerate until the game starts (or after the game, when you're waiting to get your car out of the lot). Boston Beer Works is, as the name suggests, a brewery, and the room is filled with the distinct aroma of hops. You will find such homebrews as Beantown nut brown ale, Boston red ale and Bunker Hill bluebeery ale.

The menu is broad, with everything from fried pickles (yes, really) to filet mignon. Whether you're looking for a quick pregame snack or a long, off-season dinner, Boston Beer Works can accommodate most every need. Appetizers include boneless Buffalo wings, sticky chicken stix, barbecued ribs and the aforementioned fried pickles (with ranch sauce). Entrees include the usual burgers and sandwiches, as well as beef tenderloin medallions in buckeye oatmeal stout and mushroom ravioli.

The room is pretty much what you'd expect: large and cavernous, with baseball paraphernalia gracing the walls and giant copper beer vats off to the sides. Prices are all over the board; suffice it to say that there is something to fit everyone's budget. -- K.F. Murphy

This is my restaurant of choice before heading to a Red Sox game or if my family comes up to Boston for a visit. I've been here about seven or eight times, and I've been satisfied after every meal. They have a substantial menu, filled with excellent American food (BBQ, Cajun, Home Cooked, etc) and even some foreign favorites, such as pasta and teriyaki. The burgers are out of this world and the baby back ribs are equally as delicious. Throw in a basket of gravy fries and some boneless buffalo wings and you'll be coming back for more the following week.

At Beerworks, it's all about food and atmosphere, both of which they do phenomenally. Everywhere you look, there is an HDTV begging to be watched. They also have their own beer on tap (I suggest the lemon wheat beer - killer). While it's not particularly cheap, you'll be happy you paid the few extra bucks for an overall great experience.

I went on Sunday night, and we were refused service when two women in my party kissed each other. When we complained, the manager "JB" would not give us his full name, and would not give us our server's name.

If you're a fan of equal rights - don't go to this place.

Great selection of beers here. They make an oatmeal stout that is to die for. Their Boston Red is excellent as well.
