Boston's original haven for beer lovers, this local legend has withstood the brewpub invasion thanks to its inventory of over 100 draft brews and almost 400 more available in bottles. The glut of alcohol choices is the main focus of the spacious restaurant and bar, though it should be noted that the food menu is also respectably large and offers equally gigantic portions. Start with the requisite nachos or jalapeno poppers, and then rip into smoky ribs or generous burgers. Though early evening sees some families looking for a satisfying economical dinner, the atmosphere is easy-going and young -- only natural since Sunset Grill is centrally located in Allston's mass of college bars. The decor features a wall inscribed with the ample beer selection, as well as smatterings of ale ephemera like old serving trays from long-gone breweries. Don't let yourself get distracted, though; decision-making may be arduous as you peruse that 10-page beer menu.

We had my youngest son's bachelor party here after a BC football game.

The choice beers and food were exceptional.

We still talk about it after 2 years.

Best food in Boston a little pricy but extremely good. Where else can you get good food and over 1,000 beers on tap this place is a must see.

  • Good, but...

I love Sunset, but I have never successfully received my appetizer here before my entree, unless I haven't ordered the entree yet when the appetizer comes. I recommend doing that, and ordering the sweet potato fries. mmmmm.

  • Best Beer Selection

By far the best beer selection in NE!
Who needs Bud, Miller, Coors, or even Sam?

    Try a lil something new!

I went to Sunset expecting to find the largest selection of tap beer in the area (over 110 taps!, what a sight). I wasn't dissapointed. Not only did they have Stone IPA on tap (a beer from California, be wary - not for everyone), they had really good food too. All the standard bar food, like nachos, wings, and spinach and artichoke dip are available (nachos are GIGANTIC), there are also a lot of entree selections. Steak tips are out of this world, and the quesadillas are great. I had great service, even though I went in on a Friday night one time when they were really busy. The food came out quickly, and with so many beers to choose from, I didn't so much walk out of there as stumble. Overall, a great place to go out with friends, or take a date (beer is a great conversation starter).
