Without its marquee, you might not notice the Birchmere inside this industrial building on Mount Vernon Avenue, and if you were looking for glamour inside, you'd be mighty disappointed with the homespun decor. But if you crave a fantastic music experience, you'll be well-rewarded for checking out the Birchmere, a cavernous, casual venue where music performances range from blues and folk to country. Headliners have included the Dave Matthews Band, Lyle Lovett, k.d. lang and Vince Gill.
The proprietors are quick to point out that the Birchmere is a music hall, not a nightclub or bar. In a setting reminiscent of a country cafeteria, all the focus here is on live music, and the musically fluent crowd is a gratified one. Every listener takes a seat with a clear sightline to the stage, and even with a seating capacity of 500 you can expect the rapt audience to be hushed in excitement.

ironcty - 10/10/2006I just went to see the Robin Trower show at THE BIRCHMERE on Oct 8, 2006. I drove down from Pittsburgh because I missed Robins show here in the Burgh. The BIRCHMERE was beautiful the sound was awesome toooooooo. I have seen robin at a lot of different places, The show was soooo much better (sound) than when I saw him at the house of blues in myrtle beach in 01. can't wait to get back there.

emerdragon - 06/17/2004Whether you're in the Band Stand or the Music Hall, a performance at The Birchmere is something you will always remember! I've had the pleasure of seeing Steeleye Span, Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes, Seven Nations, and Moya Brennan perform at The Birchmere. The seating is good, food is good, beer is excellent, and the acoustics are wonderful! I highly recommend this venue!

buddhistsamiam - 06/15/2002This place is amazing; a home away from home to me. All of the concerts I've been to have been wonderful. There is no other place in the area that has the great sound and acoustics that this place has. The nachos rock too!! I would recommend it to everyone.
