Gilligan and Mary Ann would love it here. Part cracker shack, part Kokomo, Skipper's is a land-locked taste of Key West. Overturned boats, wooden walkways, splashy murals and a covered Tiki Deck make you think you can hear the waves lapping ashore. The Skipperdome, a big backyard stage for live entertainment, adds to the mood. Barefoot Peter Pans of all ages (and genders) drop in for Zydeco and blues, with live music featured on the weekends and throughout the week, too. And while it almost always feels like theres a party going on here, Skippers is popular with families, too, thanks to the spirited environment and fun setting thats akin to a tropical playground.
Think Floribbean food with a Cajun edge: catfish and fresh wahoo, crawfish and crab claws, or maybe black bean gator chili. Conch is king here, in spicy Bahamian chowder, the ceviche salad prized by Caribbean honeymooners and a main course with hush puppies and sides. A blackened grouper Reuben sandwich joins gator tail and fried oyster for fun on a bun. And for the kids there are burgers and fish fingers.,The beer selection is great, and tropical drinks and a few wines by the glass wash things down, too. Drink specials are available on some evenings. And most people leave room for a slice of key lime pie.

Skipper's Entertainment
We have visited Skipper's on a number of ocassions and always find the atmosphere to our liking. We've listened to Jimmy Thackery and the Drivers and one of my all time favorites, Buddy MIles. Local talent has been good as well. I am wating for a new group I caught a little of, named Kickin' Again. I caught them at a private party on New Year's Day and can't wait until Skipper's brings them in. They play a mix of funk, Soul, Oldies from the 60's and 70's with a very talented 7 pc group. No fooling around with this group, they use the real thing like a Hammond B3 with twin Leslie cabinets and 5 of the 7 have strong vocals with terrific harmony. The lead singer is from the Late NIght Brass and can really mix it up with his female counterpart. Keep up the good work, we will be back.

Loved seeing this - Skipper's brings back many memories, hubby and I met there in the 80s. Dancing in the sand with a Red Stripe to just plain good music with good folks, in true Florida style. I actually still have a T-shirt someplace..."Skippers Smokehouse - We Smoke Anything"...lol. Greetings from Michigan from two former Crackers, wishing we were still there.
