With decor as garish as a Mardi Gras parade, the Broadway Oyster Bar brings a splash of Creole charm to St. Louis. Above old picnic-type tables, fish with beer bottles in their mouths and garlands around their necks keep an eye on diners in the darkened room. Notes and drawings scribbled on napkins hang on the walls next to old band flyers. The venue also hosts many blues, funk, jazz and Zydeco bands.
People of all ages come here for jambalaya, red beans and rice, Cajun pasta and (of course) oysters. The menu offers everything from oysters on the half-shell to oysters Rockefeller. The choices are actually mindboggeling. Appetizers include potato and yam chips as well as fried alligator. There's also a hefty selection of shrimp dishes, fresh market choices and crawfish creations. The bottled beer is plentiful, and a few are on tap. The outside offers a gigantic mural lined with oyster shells and a full-service bar. -- Jennifer Dockery

Great Atmosphere and food
Me and 7 friends found this place on the way back to our hotel during Mardi Gras and thought we would try it out. It is very neat inside while some say its dirty I found it to be exotic and fun. Great place to grab a nice meal and stay warm. Food wasn't too pricy the 8 of us ate for $130 including tip and we enjoyed ourselves tremendously.

Some friends & I stopped by the bar last night and the first thing we noticed was the lack of or shall I say the abundance of grime that was in the establishment. But, people raved about the food, so we decided to cross our fingers and dive in. Everything went okay, but that warm and fuzzy feeling (maybe from the oysters) quickly faded, when it was time to pay. We asked for our tab to be split three ways. The bartender looked at us as if we had asked him the square root of the hypotenuse. He then said he would have to get the manager. The manager comes and he explaining to her that somehow we are being difficult because we want our bill to be split. Our original bill was held on credit card. When they told us our totals, we each gave them our forms of payments. He threw my friends card back on the counter, saying that its the same card the bill was held on and that they wouldn't take it (crazy, huh?). He then asked for the other two forms of payment. He then started on a very idiotic rant on how we should have paid. The manager gave us our change, but 20 cents short. We pointed it out to her, and she stated they don't carry small change (yet they gave us quarters) and asked if we needed it so badly that she could get it from her purse (sarcastically). So, if you want okay food, unsanitary conditions and a poor staff, this is definitely the place that won't disappoint.
Rudest service on the planet
Despite the fact that I have witnessed some of the rudest servers in my vast bar-hopping experience, I still rate B.O.B. "Good". They book quality touring and local bands and when the weather permits for them to perform in their outdoor area, the vibe is fabulous.
I actually heard one of their bartenders yell at a customer that we wasn't going to wait on him because he doesn't tip. Unbelievable.
I get decent service and attitude from the help there, probably because as a fellow bartender I know to be ready to order when they are ready for me, and I tip like most bartenders, which is better than the average customer.
After seeing the slogan on their staff T-shirts, I figure their rudeness probably comes from the top. The slogan is "leave your attitude at home". Again, it is a cool place with really good bands, but some friendly bartenders would sure improve the experience.
