If you're a jazz fan in SA you're well aware of the slim pickings when it comes to reliable jazz venues. Luna remedies that by booking top-rate jazz players from around the city like Small World, The Jazz Protagonists and Zarabande on a regular basis. Dubbed a ''Fine Music Club'' by its founder, Border Palace member Marcos Trevino, serious thought was put into creating the right vibes that merge the feel of a contemporary big city jazz bar and its innovative predecessors. The music is the central focus, with a well-lit stage draped by velvet curtains and dimmer lighting for guest seating areas. The stylish establishment is non-smoking, but if you must occupy the mouth while you muse, a small appetizer menu offers up Mediterranean pitas, shrimp toast, tortilla wedges and the like. If you're in need of an adult beverage, try their signature white chocolate martini. -- A. Onofre

Finally a place you can enjoy great music and drink without smelling like a dirty ashtray when you leave

  • Great SA Jazz Club

There is not a lot of Jazz in San Antonio which is sad. However, Luna adds a taste of Jazz I very much miss. The previous reviews talk about crowd and the non smoking atmosphere. Well, I was going for the music and that was great. Take some friends, you have a crowd you like. If you want to smoke, go outside. It is not the best club I have ever been to, but if you live in SA, you will certainly appreciate the Jazz where you can get it and Luna is a great place to get it.

Juice glasses for wine, not a large list of liquers, not a lot of style. The music is good, though it is an early, older couples crowd that tends to go home early. Rather sterile. Maybe as more people learn about the place, it will loosen up a bit.

How on earth does a jazz and blues club become nonsmoking?
