What do jazz and football have in common? Well, in Raleigh's City Market it's Antwan Harris. This Raleigh native and NFL football player opened Zydeco Downtown in the fall of 2005 bringing to the area a much-needed spot for jazz and down-home southern cooking. If it's a home-cooked meal you're after, head to the right after you enter and take a seat against yellow walls covered with jazz-inspired artwork for New Orleans-style staples like chicken wings, fish and grits and jambalaya. If it's live jazz you're after, head to the 60-seat horseshoe bar featuring a large aquarium and cocktails that hover around the $7 mark. It's on this side of the club where you'll find comfy chairs and couches, low lighting and a stage that sees some of the most smoking jazz around. If you're lucky, you might get to rub elbows with the NFL player himself -- he's on injured reserved this season. Just look for the most popular guy in the room with the big diamonds in his ears.

Great Atmosphere
This is almost the perfect place to hang out Thursday thru Saturday. The collards, grits n shrimp...Antwans wings are all slamming. However, the service is consistantly extremely slow and I have been there at least 5 times in the last year. If you have groups of 6 or more, expect a wait even if you go early and the restaurant is almost empty. No less than 3 times each time with our party of 6 we had to wait an hour for a table when there were on 2-3 tables occupied (go figure). The owner (absolutely fine brotha!!!!making me sweat here) was of no assistance until we finally got seated each time. The wait staff each time was very apologetic but considering how many times I have gone,,,,I think they can't seem to get the seating thing right for parties larger than 4. What gives them a reprive is if you order right...certain items are pretty good (sometimes cold)! The music is slamming....and the lounge side of the restaurant is pretty nice until it gets crowded. Parking sucks as it does for any downtown area...but if you can handle the waiting around to be seated, getting your food (the bread the serve is off the chain) and how crowded it gets some nights in the lounge area...then you will find this place one nice spot to visit. If they ever get those things together...watch out...a velvet rope will have to go up and really on the grown and sexy will be selected to go in.......hope this honest review helps!

The first time I visited Zydeco I was defiantly in love with the atmosphere. I felt very at home from the moment I walked in the door. It's a very intimate grown and sexy crowd that I have not been able to find anywhere else in NC. So if you would like to unwind, network, or check out some very attractive people, this is the place to be.
Doing it big....
I love this place. I was in awe from the time I stepped in to the time I left!
This will definitely be a place that I will hit up on a regular basis. The scenery was spectacular and the atmosphere was laid back and serene and not too mention the men are on point.Grown folks' party
I really enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and live jazz at Zydeco. I'll be a repeat visitor to this spot. Keep doing whatcha do!!!
Relax...chill...vibe
A much-needed breath of fresh air in the Raleigh night-life scene. Go here to unwind in one of the couches or at the bar, while listening to incredible local music artists performing jazz and R&B. A word of warning, however. There's more of an older crowd, unless the venue is hosting a social event. That, in part, adds to it's laid-back appeal.
