A perfect 10 on the cheese meter! Although Mad Planet bills itself as "Milwaukee's No. 1 alternative dance club," it's really no more than a former dive bar that somehow sweatily packs in dance crowds. Since Goths (the purported crowd) know Mad Planet ranks a pale second to Sanctuary, who exactly is dancing here? Most likely Water Street straights looking for some "edge" -- but not at the price of their tacky and beloved '80s nights (which Mad Planet happily features on Thursdays and Fridays). Thursday is Mod Night, and Friday is Retro Night. Saturday features live music. -- Kerry McLaughlin
