As if opening a restaurant/bar in Westport wasn't ambitious enough, the owners of Record Bar have set their sights on transforming the city's music scene. Having renovated the capacious strip mall venue of a former Irish pub on Westport Road, the two owners are now drawing local, regional and national acts. The medium-sized venue features a full bar, excellent acoustics and an Italian-inspired menu of pizzas, pasta, antipasta and sandwiches. Live entertainment is scheduled nearly every night of the week, though some nights it might just be a DJ or a trivia contest. The Record Bar's advertising exhortation is ''Eat. Hear.'' And with substantial bar food and some of the area's best musical draws, the Record Bar should have plenty of this city's music fans doing just that.
