Chastain Park Amphitheater, home of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra's Classic Chastain summer series, is perhaps Atlanta's favorite outdoor concert venue. The season features some of the country's top acts in jazz, rock, folk, rhythm & blues, country, and pop, some of which appear with the Grammy Award-winning ASO. If your group contains 20 or more, check out reserving space in Club Chastain, the coolest place at the concert, with private air-conditioned bathrooms, a private cash bar, fans to cool you off and tents in inclement weather. Call 404-733-4848 for details. -- Edna McCown

  • For peace and quiet stay home!

On July 19, 2006 my husband and I went to see Paul Simon. The show was really nice. Paul sounded great. What did bother us is when during the last encore we stood up to dance and cheer. On man sitting 1 row up from us told us to shut the F up. Another man asked us a little nicer to sit down. We are huge Paul Simon fans and were extremely disappointed by the attitudes of the few sour apples in the group. People need to realize that if they want to go to a concert there are going to be folks there who just want to have a good time singing and dancing. We did not go to the concert to sit there and stuff our faces with wine and cheese. How do you go to a concert of one of the best musicians in the world, a legend and complain about everything. My advice to those who wanted to ruin other peoples experience is to buy the CD and sit at home!
P.S. On the brighter side, after the concert was over at least a half dozen people came up to us and said nice things like...It is so nice to see a real fan. Thank you to those people for taking the edge off of that bitter pill.
If you want to enjoy a concert without the fluff don't go to Chastain. I will be giving Chastain a second chance. Tonight we will be going to see Willie Nelson. If my second visit to Chastain is a better experience, I will come online and correct my statements. Until then...

  • Great Place!!!

Yes, there are a few talkers at each show, but many of you will be surprised to know that people talk at EVERY concert you go to! The difference here is that the music is quieter (neighborhood ordinance) and the conversations sometimes take over the music - especially if the patrons are close to you and the music is softer. Ask them to stop and usually they will. Grow some balls! The best way to see Chastain is to buy early through the Classic Chastain subscriptions. You get a discount to multiple shows, and priority seating (BEFORE Ticketmaster comes in). Worth the trip if you like high class music in a great atmosphere. Bring your candles!

that so many people pay money for great music they don't actually listen to during the concerts at this place. A great venue in the past but with the chic moderns that attend now, nobody ever shuts up long enough to hear a note. I have seen several show, all different kinds of music & the same rude yacky people were there at every show! They wouldn't stop blathering when Carlos Santana asked them to listen to the music! I agree w/ beeswing, the place is over because the yacker say so.
