The Scene
Although located in the heart of Laguna, this restaurant feels more like a swanky Beverly Hills hot spot. As music plays softly, a fireplace blazes in the corner of the dimly lit dining area, creating a romantic atmosphere. Patio seating allows partial views of the ocean and also boasts a fireplace. Diners enjoy impeccable service.

The Food
The lusciously decadent food is presented with flair. Impressive starters include seared Hudson Valley foie gras served with preserved kumquats, duck confit and pomegranate reduction. The recommended Chateau Lamothe-Guingnard white wine complements the dish nicely. The roasted filet tenderloin with potato-shallot cakes, spinach and a pinot-noir glaze is cooked to perfection. For dessert, a must-have is the chocolate-macadamia cake served with vanilla-bean gelato. Make it even better and pair it with the signature Hush n' Toddy coffee drink.

    I just read the previous review and I agree that the owner is very passionate about his restaurant. While I haven't seen the specific behavior mentioned below, the owner has been very quick to resolve any minor issues we have had while dinning there.

    We tend to dine there about once a week and find the food very good and the wine list "off the charts". Having just returned from a week in Burgundy, we are already raiding their deep cellar and finding wine values that we didn't think we would see in the US.

    Additionally we have had a lot of luck proposing a price range and a style for wine and the owner has yet to disappoint. Sorry the person below had a less than perfect experience, but we continue to frequent the establishment.

    We visited for our anniversary and loved the decor, the food and the wine. The service was amicable and attentive. What ruined it for us (to the point that I complained to the hostess when we left) was the owner/managing partner, who was there handling the wine and frequently chastized employees in a loud voice several times. Not only was it embarassing, and totally inappropriate on the part of someone who should know better, but it totally took away from the great dining experience. I would probably go back, but only after checking to make sure this guy was off site!! Obviously this is not the first time someone has complained, as the hostess made it clear she had heard this before...too bad he doens't get it or just doesn't care. Some of the worst behavior on the part of staff I have seen in all my years of dining.

    Absolutely fantastic. From the moment we walked in the door everything was great.....the wine list is magnificent.

    Went to Hush the first time for a drink after eating at Tabu Grill, at the suggestion of the owner of late-night boutique Max Regal next to Tabu, impressed with the style and the scene, returned for dinner the next night and was impressed enough to go at least every 2 weeks for dinner and more often to stop in for drinks. Food a little pricey for what it is, but if you're used to traveling and prices in New York, London, etc., then this is the spot for you...good looking crowd & social bar scene.
