Perched on a quiet corner in the back of the French Quarter, this tiny deli and grocery serves up "real food for real people at real prices." They stick true to their mantra by serving a variety of meals around the clock at prices that are just unbeatable. The massive menu on the wall is undecipherable but grab a paper menu and you'll find everything from fried seafood and Italian to breakfast sandwiches and western omeletes. A rotating selection of daily specials includes lasagna, roasted chicken, shrimp scampi and stuffed pork chops. Be sure to try their Royal Fest sandwich that includes turkey and ham with hot pepper cheese and a special secret sauce. Everyone from drunken gutter punks to local business types have long known the prices as one of the best-kept secrets in the Quarter. It's take-out only but there is also free bicycle delivery to anywhere in the French Quarter or Faubourg Marigny. -- Craig Guillot.

    the "all that jazz" po boy is unbelievable! i never go to n.o. without a verdi marte trip.

    The ONLY reason why the percentage of votes is low for Verti Marte is SIMPLE....because not enough people know about it. Its one of the most underrated, slept on po' boy spots in the city. Of course the more "commercial", well seen places would get more votes. But no matter what, Verti Marte comes first on my list. Nothing like picking up a po boy in the middle of the night when youre hungry. The meat/lettuce/tomato/cheese, etc, is always fresh, and the bread always has the perfect amount of crispiness. Not to mention you can get hot dinner plates if youre not in the mood for a sandwich. Awesome, awesome po boys that cant be beat!!! Stop sleeping on this place, people!!!

    Go in at 3:00am and get treated to a drool worthy sandwich hot off the grill. The ruben will drip to your elbows. You can also buy yourself a bottle of boos and a pack of smokes.
