Tucked away out of sight deep in the Bywater, this funky dive serves up homemade barbecue and ice-cold beer with a laissez fare attitude. With rickety tables, concrete floors and a bare-bones but hippy-type decor, this place lives up to its name of being a true "joint." All effort is placed on the simple menu of barbecue specialties that includes slowly smoked ribs, chicken and pork. It's all served with two special homemade sauces, that appeal to the two types of barbecue lovers who seem to like it sweet and soft or hot and spicy. Massive combination platters offer a great deal for those who can't decide between the meats and those who would rather stay at home can opt for neighborhood delivery. --Craig Guillot.
