The Port of Call burger is a common man's work of art: half a pound of fresh ground beef piled high on a comparatively small bun, augmented with lettuce, tomatoes and onions and accompanied by a buttered baked potato. The burger, which is the Port's calling card, can also be spruced up with a variety of extras, such as cheddar cheese, mushrooms and bacon. Aside from the burgers, steaks and pizzas the Port of Call folks cook up, the place also features a bustling bar serving up drinks from the classic to the ridiculous. Exotic multi-liquor and fruit drinks like Goombay Punch, Huma Huma and Neptune's Monsoon make for a delicious thirst-quencher. The bartenders here are noted for pouring cocktails that are lethal, so don't be surprised if you find yourself stumbling as you leave. -- Billy Thinnes

    I lived in New Orleans most of my younger years, through college and I always dream of returning to the Port Of Call, to eat one of their burgers, with Blue Cheese. Mmmmmmm!!! The best in the world. !!

    In all my 24 1/2 years on this earth I never tasted a burger as goooood as the one's they serve @ the Port of Call. That burger changed my life lol. But really take it from a expert on taste that burger is very good and very addictive!

    I've been there many times over many years, and still no one makes them like Port O'Call. Have great Monsoons, too!

    I have to say I have never had a burger so good. My partner and I went to New Orleans for the first time in August of 07 and we had just got into town and I wanted a burger, my partner is about 90 percent vegetarian and only occasionally eats meat. I ordered the burger and he had a drink and I could not believe how amazing the burger was so good we went back he decided to order one because I could not stop talking how it was the best burger I had ever eaten. Sure enough he ate the burger and agreed it was the best burger ever. This from a vegetarian. I have heard people say the burgers are not the same since Katrina if that is the case I would have really liked to have tried a burger then because it was truly the best burger of all time. The service kind of stinks and the staff is unfriendly, but the food makes up for it.. I just say bad service bad tip. The food is what counts in this place.
