Enter Oz and there is no mistaking: You are nowhere near Kansas anymore, Dorothy. With multiple floors (the entry-level dance floor is cavernous), absolutely booming music and frenetic lighting, this is dance central on Bourbon Street. The crowd, the music and the lights often spill out into the street. If you need a break from the bump and grind, there is a quieter bar upstairs that opens onto a large wraparound balcony, offering plenty of socializing space. The balcony also offers an excellent view of Bourbon. Oz stays crowded late, and the energy level never dips. Plus, there are different special events every night of the week, such as the Gay Gong Show, Men of Manwatch dancers, Drag Bingo, Dancer of the Week and a Calendar Boy Contest. The cover fluctuates depending on that night's entertainment, and is higher than most places on Bourbon, so check that out before you get in line. Oz is gay-friendly but hardly gay-exclusive. The man behind the curtain is all about the boogie, baby, which makes Oz a must for clubbing aficionados. -- Bill Loehfelm

The Men who dance are mostly gay, gay friendly and totally awesome. Most are finishing their educations, or in graduate school and give that extra something besides being perfect to look at without all the steriods that straight men like to use.Management, Tommy Elias is a true Southern gentleman and fine entertainer like all the real illusionist & professionals like Blanche Debris & Bianca. The men rule ! but all are welcome and make you feel it..incredible music almost as good as the live music here in Austin, TExas.

Used to go to OZ for years with my friends...I am a straight female and never had problems with being charged more for drinks, only at the door on weekends, but hey, how many clubs in this world have ladies nite, why can't it be boy's nite? anyway, it's a great club, great music, great dancing.

I am a woman in my mid-twenties, and have been going to Oz occasionally for years. If you are female and want to get down without being harassed by drunken, booty-grinding tourists, this gay club is for you. Although the music can be extremely cheesy at times, if you want to dance in a friendly environment for a "girl's night out" it provides an enjoyable experience. The upstairs balcony is a great place to sit and comfortably view the madness below on Bourbon Street.

I'll never go back again...not only is the management not friendly...they charge more for some...especially straight women and less for others. I tell all my visiting guest that it's one of the few places where I've seen women and older gay men charged more because they don't want 'those' kind in here. I'll never go again...well, not until they can appreciate ALL paying customers..not just young, goodlooking gay youth.
