Although the French Quarter buzzes all night long, finding a place to eat after-hours can be a challenge. There are a handful of bars serving fried foods, a couple of diners flipping burgers and fluffing omelettes, a corner store that delivers and then there's Angeli on Decatur. A single, eclectic room filled with neon lights, candles and disco balls, Angeli is equally welcoming to college partiers, night owl vegetarians, prowling Goths and hungry smokers.
A Middle Eastern-Mediterranean sampler platter boasts garlicky hummus, roasted tomato spread, roasted red peppers, feta cheese and pita bread. In addition, there are burgers, salads, meatball sandwiches, calzones and breakfast pizzas made with scrambled eggs, cheese and bacon. On the nights when Angeli closes early, you'll have to leave by 4AM; it's open 24 hours on Fridays and Saturdays. Neighbors and visitors lodging in nearby hotels should pick up a menu while browsing the French Quarter's shops during the day -- you never know when you might crave a late-night shish kebab delivered to your doorstep. --Sara Roahen

Divine Portobello is my fave

The Divine Portobello, portobello mushrooms and chicken in a spicy, creamy red sauce served with pita bread, is my fave. The angel wings are also good.

This is one of our family favorites in NO. My husband and I stumbled on it one night after midnight, but we now frequent it with our kids during the day. It has something for everyone. I love the salads and spreads, and the kids love the Lucifer's Special pizza. I agree it is the best deal in town.
best deal in town
We arrived at our hotel late in the evening on our first night and wanted to grab a little bite to eat, after walking down the street for a while and looking at the other places to eat we were about to turn around when we happened on this place. it didn't look to inviting from the outside but the menu look different so we thought we would give it a try. WOW everything we ordered was excellent. In the 3 days we were down there we ate at some of the "better places" but we keep going back to this one 4 times in three days. The "tip" in the other places we had tried were more then our bill from cafe Angli. If you like real good food and a basic non frilly dinning room (don't let the look scare you like it almost did me)give it a try, or you'll miss out on the best DEAL IN TOWN!
thanks Antgreat place

If your doing a night in the quarter and need a little break from all the insanity stop here to regain composure. Delicious food and decent service and movies playing on the walls. what else do you want?
Great Food Great Price

I live work in New Orleans and eat at Angeli's twice a week. Sure bets are "Divine Portabella", pasta salad and any burger. If you try the pizza, I like the "Diablo Pizza". It's good and spicy(If you think Popeye's spicy chicken is to spicy, this pizza is not for a wimp like you). You can order a mild version of this pizza, but why. YOU'RE IN N'ORLINS.
Melting Pot for Good Eats

It is 2:00 AM, you have just left the bar, and it is now time to partake in one of the most coveted rituals in drunken history, eating. Nestled on Decatur St., Cafe Angeli is the quintessential location to satisfy hunger from those with even the most discriminating tastes. For starters, the hummus and roasted red pepper plate is fantastic although I frequently run out of pita bread and end up scooping up the roasted red pepper and tomato sans bread like some sort of depraved wild animal. As for main courses, the restaurant delivers a scrupmtious Portabello mushroom sandwhich. These are just a few of the good eats, the list goes on and on.
As for ambience, this restautant has its own unique caviat. The clientele is absolutely fascinating. All walks of life can be seen frequenting Angeli which adds to its unique personality (close minded people beware).
So, for all of you Denny's frequenters in the wee hours of the morning, you have been doing yourself a grave disservice. Drop the Grand Slam and go to a place where they can show you what real late night eating is all about.
