Many a burger buff will boast that when it comes to beef 'n' buns, the formidable half-pound Swampburger rules. Sure enough, the Swamp Room always makes a respectable appearance on the city's best burgers lists. Don't go in expecting frills (the dining room is utilitarian at best), but regulars rely on the po'boys, catfish, oysters and steaks, as well as chicken and tuna salads, to be fresh and tasty -- a good thing to remember when you're looking for a late-night snack. Try the famous hickory-smoked burger; it's lean ground chuck grilled over red-hot coals. In the midst of such sparse trappings, a full bar and a garrulous staff go a long way to contribute the down-home, relaxed appeal. -- Michaela Morrissey

Too bad Katrina drove us 2 states away, but you can bet I'll have a swampburger on my next visit to the big easy

This, as I see it, looks scumdidlyumptios. the burger looks very well created, and I like the fact about the atmospere. I live in La., but I have never visited it. This me of this resturant in Laffeyett, I think it was Mulett's Cajun Resturant, I did not try there burger though.

This is one of the best places for burgers with a N.O. atmosphere. I no longer live there , but I always head for The Swamp.

Good atmosphere...Cheers type. The burgers are the greatest also try the grilled tuna...great also. Good place to hang out. No underworld characters... Pool tables, strategically located TVs, booths, no tables and tada...a juke box too. Parking is kinda tight in the front, you can park in the rear. Cheers

This was my frist time at this resurant. Drive from the westbank. It was very good. I enjoyed every bit of it . The burger was cook mw and it was very juice. It had a little smoked tast to the burger and I put a little barq sauce on it too and I had the sweet potatoe fries. There were good too they was not soggy in oil there where crunchy and golden brown I love it.

sometimes change is great, unfortunatley for this great lil bar, change of staff a while back really hurt...Adam Jennifer and the crew really made this bar a graet place...now its merely average...pity

I am a regular customer here. I find the bartendars are extremely nice and sweet. They always care. The work their butts off day in and day out.The burgers are beyond exceptional, to good 4 words. Besides the service and courtesy that a main reason i love to eat there.It is under better ownership now. The new owner cares and helps out when needed, unlike the past one.It's a team effort and that's what the atmosphere is. Good, Kind, Friendly.Ohh and the Diet Coke rocks!!!!

This bar used to be the best. However, one of the guys who used to work there went crazy and sued the owner. The crazy part is..HE ACTUALLY GOT THE BAR!Then, all of the good workers quit and the whole thing is going to crap. The atmosphere isn't the same and the service is horrible. It's a good thing that they have good burgers because other than that, it's a landmark bar that has been taken over by a idiot and gone down the drain. I DO NOT SUGGEST GOING TO THIS BAR! in fact, i don't think anyone should support this new owner who took away one of New Orleans best bars!
