You have to try it.....absoultely wonderful. Only thing is that it's small, but it is so good and I don't even like fish! YUMMY!!

The American Sushi Restaurant

There seems to be a recent trend of non-Japnese owned/run sushi restaurants that are popping up all over the US at a dime a dozen, completely abandoning and semblence of true Japanese dining. Tsunami takes this to the extreme.

Although I wasn't disappointed with the food, Tsunami excells in the hip and trendy, with almost a hollywood feel to it, and focuses less on Japanese culture and dining, which to me, is what a sushi restaurant should be about. I happen to be a purist, and Tsunami lacked in this aspect. Miso soup should be served with the entree, leave the spoon in the kitchen, and there's no need for those mushrooms floating around in miso soup either. Perhaps I've been spoiled by true Japanese cuisine, but hey, I'm sure a good ol' American cheeseburger wouldn't be the same with soy cheese atop a veggie burger and served on a pita...you get the idea.

Tsunami has a fun and lively interior, and the food is good, if you're willing to overlook the non-Japanese aspects of this "Japanese" restaurant.

This is a great place for a first date. Sit at the sushi bar and if things get silent there's always the sushi chef or another person to talk to. It makes for a pleasant experience insted of an awkward one. Guys take my advice if you want to impress that special someone.

Fresh fish, friendly service, great cocktails, and beautiful people. What else do you need!
