Pals and chefs Mike Cunha and Jim Gerhardt have -- pun altert! -- busted their chops in various Kentucky restaurants where they've practiced five-star fine dining. Now with their own place, they concentrate on "true Kentucky flavors." Regardless of their fine-dining background, don't expect stodgy, quiet, dimly lit rooms here. The big open dining space is supposed to facilitate conversation and good times among guests. The guys have created such signature items as sourmash bourbon rolls, shrimp grits (dinner grits, not breakfast grits, they say), bourbon barrel-smoked rib eye and tobacco onions. And while the steaks and chops are the draw, there's also cod, Lobster Rigati, salads and sandwiches. Not surprisingly, the guys didn't forget about the drinks when it comes to pairing the rich menu selections. About 40 wines (half white, half red) come from California, Chile and France to complement your meal -- a natural notion put together by a couple of pros like Mike and Jimmy.

    Who makes this list? This is a joke! This place should not have even been ranked with Perkins or Bob Evans. I live 2 miles from this place and will drive right by it and go to Jag's any day of the week. Good news... it is CLOSED!

    I wrote a review on 6/2/06 and had nothing but great things to say about Mike and Jimmy's. I find it difficult to believe that in such a short time how a place can go from great to lousy. I had terrible service a month or so ago and thought that its just an "off" night and we all deserve one, but the last time I was there (10-04-07) the food was ok and the service was barely average. The prices keep going up but everything else keeps going down hill. I complained to my server about my meal and he said the cook said "too bad" and did nothing to correct the situation. I also had asked to see the manager (Albert) twice and I was ignored both times. I assure you this will be the last time I go there unless it is to speak to the owners myself and let them know how I was treated. There were at least 5 other complaints while I was there nad not a thing was done about them. I am not looking for a free meal, just a little customer service like I deserve. So long mike and Jimmy's.............

    I've been to the Pricinct and Tropicana. This steak house is wonderful for the price. This is a favorite of my husband and mine! The staff treats the customers right! I would HIGHLY recommend this restaurant.

    I thought everything was great. The house wines are very nice for the price. The dinner grits were amazing! I can't stop thinking about them. My husband had the surf and turf special and it was a little small, but I had the salmon and I was pleased. I am looking forward to going back.

    From the minute we walked in the door, we could not have asked for a better experience. The bar was cool and inviting, the service was great and the food was excellent. Mike & Jimmy's is now on my list of favorite places.

    I have been to Mike and Jimmy's Chophouse Grill 12-15 times since I discovered it in December. The food is great and the service is excellent. I have never had a bad experience yet. It may cost a bit more than most places around town, but believe me it is well worth it.
