For nearly 70 years, Rosedale Barbeque has been serving a steady stream of customers with its own brand of slow-cooked Kansas City barbecue. Those in the know consider Rosedale's to be one of Kansas City's top smokehouses, and every day crowds made up of suits and blue-collar workers flock through the doors for the lunch special -- a sandwich, fries and a soda for less than $5. The slow-cooked ribs, smothered in Rosedale's famous, tangy sauce, also draw attention from barbecue lovers. For the uninitiated, there are always a few items on the menu that don't get slow-cooked the Rosedale way. Everyone seems to enjoy the casual experience of Rosedale's, too. There's definitely no pretense here. It's all about the food. -- Scott Cotter

Value and Taste!

This is a place to get the best of both ...taste and value! The sauce has a very different and distinct taste that is different from any others in town and my personal favorite. I think they have some of the best fries anywhere and I like their combo or belt buster sandwich where you can choose two or three meats on a sandwich. I like the pulled pork , beef , and sausage. And it's one of the only places to get an RC cola. The wait staff is fast and efficent and several have been there for years. I travel about 40 minutes to get there and wouldn't go anywhere else.

the fries have won awards-----the ribs are always smoky and fall off the bone !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Things Might Have Changed, But...
I grew up on Rosedale's BBQ. As a kid in the 60s, my Dad had a nearby business to the restaurant and we were regulars especially before hitting the Boulevard Drive-In. I have always used the memories of the ribs, sliced bread, sauce and sliced dill chips as a measure to be compared to. The old neon beer lights on the walls and Patsy Cline on the jukebox. They even once smoked a raccoon for Dad and his pals... obviously wasn't on the menu. Based on reading the listed comments, it might be a toss of the coin if the food can compare to yesteryear's standards. But whenever I get back to KC, I'll give it a shot.

THIS JULY 4 WILL BE ANOTHER CELEBRATION OF ONE OF THE OLDEST AND STILL ONE OF THE BEST BAR-B-QUES IN TOWN IF NOT THE WORLD. I HAVE EATEN AT SEVERAL COMPETITORS WHO ALL CHARGE MORE AND DON'T HAVE AS GOOD OF MEAT. BUT AS MOST PLACES IN A LESS DISTINGUESED LOCATION IS BEING PUT DOWN! FOR A GREAT MEAL AND TO SAVE ON MONEY COME ON DOWN AND ENJOY THE BEST!
Love This Place

Grew up eating at this joint. The fires are always dead on and served in wax paper. Love the beef sandwich. Love the sauce (you can tell they put cinnamon in it to heat it up a bit). Give it a shot!
