Sixteen miles west of Indianapolis, Squealers offers locals an "early bowling alley without the noisy pins" kind of atmosphere. Easily adaptable for large groups, it's a definite family place, with special menus for kids and seniors. Lunch specials bring in a different crowd during the week, but the low-key, open atmosphere attracts families in the evenings. Carryout is available, and Squealers also offers catering or bulk carryout for parties, picnics or other occasions. But when you eat in, be sure to bring your appetite: Portions are big, even if the prices aren't. Combos, catfish, sandwiches and homemade pies and cakes round out the barbecue-heavy menu. Meat undergoes a 14-hour smoking process with cherry and hickory wood to become the southern style, award-winning barbecue Squealers is known for.

I stumbled across Squealers on West 86th St in Indy, and it's my new favorite BBQ place outside of Evansville. I tried the Sampler with St. Louis style ribs, pulled pork, and beef brisket, and all were excellent (enough for leftovers also). Try mixing the sweet sauce with the hot sauce.
Far surpasses Smokey Bones (which has now closed all Indy locations except for Greenwood.)Great!
Ketch2215 - 06/06/2008Before moving from Indianapolis, I used to go to Squealers on the northside of Indy at least once a week. Why it isn't NUMBER 1 is beyond me! Love it! You get a choice of hot sauce, sweet sauce, or they will mix the two together for you. It is definitely the best BBQ in Indy!

sdmiltz - 05/31/2006We were driving through on vacation and my husband, who also does competition bbq, was instructed, by Dr. BBQ himself, to go to this restaraunt for lunch.
As much as I get tired of BBQ, I was dreading eating BBQ again, but it was just awesome and I wish there were one closer to home here in kansas!
