The Vogue, possibly Indy's most successful dance club, is the place to see and be seen -- and to catch great live local and national bands. Get there early for performances, because there are only a few small cocktail tables on the narrow balcony overlooking the stage. Otherwise, it's first-come-first-serve, standing-room-only for bands as varied as Red Hot Chili Peppers, Phish and Willie Nelson. Other weekly attractions include Retro Rewind, Lunacy Dance Club (ladies free) and Tease (for techno and hip-hop). Watch yourself on the web cam or just enjoy the view of the beautiful people. A great light show, decent dance floor, drink specials and plenty of loud music make for a hot night in quiet Broad Ripple. -- Lori Lovely

A good friend of mine is a bouncer there so I went and checked the place out. Nothing to write home about! The dancers were totally average, I think they should have chicks that like to show some skin and get dirty! The guys were really great dancers, I was impressed by Bruce! No need to go there again but there's really not a whole lot to chose from Indianapolis.

The sweet, smart bartender w/ big biceps that works on Wednesdays is *probably* Kyle. If you're talking about the really tall guy w/ short, black hair and a prominent nose, large chest and arms. He's really very nice and I think if you're interested, you should talk to him the next time you're in there!

Ok, I've been reading all the crap about the Vogue. I worked there for nine years - thru the good old days and the bad. The problem is not the club, it's the patrons. Yes the Vogue has changed and probably not for the better, but I think it's the current crowd in B.R. Ripple used to be cool and alternative - -all the trailer trash would go downtown to Sports. Suddenly Ripple is the place to race your Yamaha and show off for you girl friend with the bad hair. Bars had to accomodate the change in crowds and voila --- crappy music, cheep beer and fights. Nobody hates the retro music and plastic people more than the staff of the Vogue. The DJ's are forced to play formatted music and the bartenders must serve rude kids who don't tip. The only truly cool night was Boing* on sundays. Great DJ, cool music, way cool people --- and you had to be open minded to go. Great gay/straight mix. Broad Ripple has become a lot of things, I'm just waiting for downtown to become popular again so all the trash goes back down and leaves B.R. alone. Maybe then the Vogue and the other bars can get back to being cool places to hang out.

Visited this place for the first time about 2 weeks ago. Drinks were very reasonably priced. Thought the atmosphere was good. Music could have been better, but overall I had a great time & plan on going back. People are way to critical on here. Just have a drink, smile, & enjoy yourself man!

The Vogue is actually a decent place, in my opinion. Believe it or not, I used to hate going there because I thought it was all drunk frat boys and trendy girls. Well, it is. But who cares? However, I've gone a lot more lately and actually met some really cool people and gotten to know a lot of hte dancers. In fact, I think I know who Zil is and she is not a sl*t or a "Broad Ripple hooch." Nor does she drink or pretend to be anything other than herself. She's a kick-a** dancer and just about anyone who's been there probably knows who she is.
The music is decent, the people are out to have a good time, but face it, any time you mix alcohol and people you're going to have a lot of problems.
The Vogue, I think, gets a bad rap because it's the most popular bar in Indy. So, just like anyplace, thing, personal or mineral, not everyone is going to like it. Sorry, SLTPTRL if you got rejected there a few times, but that'll happen. I don't think there's any reason for people to get all rude and call each other names on this thing, though.
