Wood-paneled walls covered in sports memorabilia hint to patrons that this is not your typical country breakfast place. But diners are immediately put at ease once the plates arrive. Sunrise lives up to its moniker with hearty French toast, pancakes and eggs Benedict. For those grabbing something for the road, more behind-the-wheel friendly options are available such as muffins and danishes.

If sleep late, you can still partake in Sunrise. Weekday lunch specials cater to the business crowd, offering healthier fare rather than fast food. There are salads, deli sandwiches and diet plates to energize your afternoon. -- Chris Saunders

  • Is that a fly in my Iced Tea? Sunrise Cafe

    Review rating : 1out of 5   BETINDY - 07/28/2008

I had lunch at the Sunrise Cafe on Monday 7/28/08. The restaurant was not crowded. We ordered our food which was fine. But as I took my first sip of my iced tea I noticed a fly in the glass. It took almost 5 minutes to get our waitress attention because she was having a conversation with someone at the food bar. Finally we flagged down an server who we saw speak to our waitress and still she continued her conversation. When she came to the table she placed another glass of tea in front of me with a backward comment of "Sorry about that" Any other restaurant would have offered to take the tea off my bill most would have given me a my lunch for free. I would have been happy with a better apology and the offer to clear the fly and old glass off the table. I will not be returning nor will my friend.

We have found that the food is better than most but from time to time it will be way below average. Time and time again we show up only to find the doors locked. If your planning on trying this Sunrise Cafe don't set you mind on having breakfast and chose after you sit down. You will never know if they will serve you breakfast or lunch. Most of the time the food is better than most but you can never count on it. One thing you need to know, Don't ever make them mad or they will burn your food every time you come in.

Went to the North Meridian location last Friday, arriving a 11:00. Was told breakfast was not served after 11:00 and had to order off the lunch menu. Service was lousy and the food average. Will never go back. The 82nd St location is still very good though.

The original management is at the new location in the Mark II office building at 11711 N. Meridian. For the ORIGNAL DESIGN AND "SUNRISE EFFECT" visit this new location. For those who had "BAD EXPERIENCES" this is a different staff...and owner...from first hand experience this is the BEST BREAKFAST IN INDY PERIOD! the food is fast...its just like home but without the stress of cooking.....smiling faces...and motivated workers are there for YOU! give it a try... wat is there to lose....call for directions and for a reservation on sunday...ask to speak to a owner ...they are friendly and are open for conversation

If you want to eat where everyone knows your name, Sunrise' is the place to be. From the moment you walk in, you are greated by a cheerful guy named nick, who will be happy to seat you, and pour you a cup of hot joe. Once seated during the week, Christin, Ann, Mandi, or Pat will be happy to take your order. Breakfast is a very popular choice, wheather its French Toast, Pancakes, Or Eggs Bennidict, just to name a few, you can be sure you will leave with a full stomach..also, make sure you try their special Cinnomon toast on the side..AWESOME! Lunch You will find the City Famous Chicken Valencia Salad with special house dressing, add a dollar for a heaping order of Breadsticks...sure to leave you comming back for more. Also, be sure to try their award winning Reuben Sandwich, this sandwich is not for the person with a skimppy appetite..ITS HUGE! Great for business parties, or just hanging out with friends or family...Sunrise Cafe' Puts Smalltown, back into Indianpolis. Stop in and Enjoy!

I have to admit I was a little surprised but to us the Sunrise Cafe's breakfast was lousy. The pancakes tasted like they had been reheated and the hashbrowns were greasy. Also the service was not that great. Very slow.

We eat at the sunrise cafe all the time, and over the last 5 years got to know the staff. We think that good service is the one thing that is tuff to find, and sunrise has it! You need to try the bread sticks!! Hands down, the best in town! Give Brad a hard time, it's fun!LAREG LARRY

We have eaten at the Sunrise Cafe twice. Both times the food was great. The Pancakes are huge and the hashbrowns are the best. If you are looking for something else try the gravy.
