At the first sign of good weather each year, loyal burger-lovers can be seen gathering at this Westside institution. Here, the grilled goods -- particularly the sublime hamburger -- taste just a little better because they are part of a locally owned, one-of-a-kind throwback where the menu is written on the wall and the car-hops will happily hook a tray up to your window for dining a la car. The burgers here are slim, so you don't need to make any rare/medium/well-done distinctions. Without those concerns, you can focus on other decisions, like whether to go with the onion rings, fries or poppers. The breaded tenderloins and Coney dogs are also popular choices, and the irresistibly sweet, frothy Mug 'n Bun root beer is the perfect way to wash it all down.

Better than ever
davemor47 - 02/28/2007Although the root beer seems to taste better in the summer, you can still get it along with the great sandwiches all winter. I personally think the best is the pork chops in the back building where the Pizza is made.
