You won't find flashing neon signs directing you to Hollyhock Hill. It's the kind of place that Ward might take Beaver and the family. Tucked away in a quiet residential neighborhood on a heavily tree-lined street, it is easy to drive right past the old house that is home to the restaurant. Serving home-cooked meals since 1928, this slice of Hoosier history knows how to please the pallets of hungry families. Evoking a Sunday dinner at grandma's house vibe, small, private dining rooms filled with linen covered tables and fresh cut flowers adorn each table.

Diners devour American favorites like fried chicken, roast beef and pork chops served with generous sides of whipped mashed potatoes, corn, green beans and fresh rolls topped with homemade apple butter. Cap off your meal by building your own ice cream sundae. You can't get any more wholesome than that.

The quality of food is pretty poor. Vegetables are just out of a can very bland. The salad just lettuce but the dressing is good.you can get all you want but who wants it. The chicken is fair, my wife brought some home as a leftover once and to me it was unedibly, fried in rancid oil or something. I have tried the steak nothing any better. I have had better food at a hospital cafeteria. Its had to ruin ice cream thats ok. I will not go back. I don't know how they stay in business it cant be just me.

Being from Ohio and knowing little of Indianapolis, I had no idea what to except when planning a long distance Rehearsal dinner for our Son and Daughter-in-law. Every detail was just perfect, thanks to everyone at Hollyhock. The food was excellent and everyone had a great time.

As a lifelong resident of Indianapolis - having traveled extensively throughout the US and abroad - I can honestly say that Hollyhock Hill has it ALL - superior food, charming atmosphere, outstanding service and reasonable prices. Either for a dinner or for hosting a group function - Hollyhock Hill is the BEST!

I can honestly say that Hollyhock Hill has the best comfort food in Indy! They have wonderful service and it isn't some corporate owned chain restaurant. The restaurant has character and I can honestly say that it is the cleanest restaurant you will ever go to. I know this because I grew up there and worked there for a long time. So, when you are in the mood for chicken, steak, shrimp, orange ruffy, and all the side dishes, make a trip to Hollyhock Hill. You can bring the whole family or come in by yourself...You can also order carry outs from there.

I am 54 years old and I no longer live in Indy, but return to my "roots" as much as I can. I grew up eating Saturday night dinners or Sundays after church at Hollyhock Hill. I have never eaten anywhere in the world as homey and as genuine! Thanks to the current owners for maintaining the integrity and vision of the founders. Hollyhock Hill...May you "live well into your hundreds" serving the foutunate folks in Indy! The service and food are pure Hoosier!

I am becoming a regular at Hollyhock Hill. I always luck into having the same server, Greg, and he's always glad to see my family arrive. Hollyhock is definately one of a kind and comforting to have such personal service. Thanks Greg!

I personally know the owners and they have been working hard for over 35 years to provide an excellent atmosphere and dining experience. Plus great chicken to boot.
