With fast food restaurants arguing over who has the biggest burger, this tiny Carmel joint could easily take them all. With its feature burger weighing in at a whopping one pound (and that's after spending time on the hot grill) the Big Ugly is earning quite a reputation with local carnivores. If you're not sure you're ready for a full pound of hand-patted beef, give the Not-So-Big Ugly burger a try. The half-pound sibling may be a little easier to swallow, but when topped with lettuce, pickles, tomatoes and cheese, it's still quite an undertaking. Of course, you can't order a burger without fries. Waffle fries are the most popular, and when topped with chili and cheese they make for an explosive side. Oversized hot dogs, barbecue chicken sandwiches and hearty bowls of chili are just a few other options. Wash everything down with one of Bub's famous hand-dipped chocolate shakes.

amaq408 - 05/15/2008I live within walking distance of BUBs and walk is what you need to do to walk off these wonderful burgers. Never have had the desire to eat the Big Ugly (way too much for me) but have never been disappointed in their service or food. The wings aren't bad either. Love the atmosphere casual and friendly. The burgers are the best I've ever had.

metzri - 03/19/2007Great, flame-grilled burgers---4 sizes available. Outdoor dining available 9 months of the year, right on the Monon tail. Watch wlakers, joggers, skaters, bicyclists, and even Segway pilots (?) while you eat!
