I've never had the desire to visit the Oz, which is right next door the the greatest night club I've ever experienced. I'm talking about The Wiz, of course. I grew up in the 80's & back then, we knew how to party! I can remember the huge dance floor & the anthem "It takes 2" by Rob Base blasting in the club. Me in my little black dress & my Jody Watley pantyhose with the tiger on the leg. The popularity of this former hot spot is extremly underated. People would come from as far as Chicago & Los Angeles, just to party @ The Wiz. I met this guy from L.A. who was impressed with the club & I think that says a lot. Then, along came the birth of gansta rap & all of a sudden everybody wanted to be a crip or a blood. Dudes thought that being disrespectful to women & packing a gat made them hard. Then came the shooting which lead to the demise of possibly, one of the hottest night spots that ever was. We loved to party on the East Side. Does anyone remember the Garrett's Lounge in Vinice ILL. & the "cutie pie" contest, & the dirt floor? How about the Emerald City & the New Addition...Club Celebration! Man! Those were the days! Not long after the Wiz closed down, the club scence for me lost its swagg. I can remember going out & not have to worry about being killed by a stray bullet. Let us not forget the Rose Man, Mr. Lee Nixon. R.I.P. baby. You brought a lot of joy into people's lives & you died doing what you loved most. But I still have my memories & I will never forget being young & having fun...partying till dawn & going to Ihop or Denny's for breakfast. I'm glad I got the chance to share my memories about the Wiz, it hold a place in my heart & will never be forgotten!

I have been going to the -OZ- since the WIZ, that will tell ya! I have always had to make sure not to forget the sunglasses. When the birds are singing and the sun is shining and you have to be at work by 8am on Friday, bring the sun glasses.

Lower class club, that offers nothing. Same music, same lighting, and very sloppy dressed people.

The Oz is a very nice place to party if you are a dancer or even like to watch people dance.Cool lighting,people,and music.

then this is the place to be. If you can stand 3 hours of non-stop techno, with an occasional minute and a half ode to hip hope, then you'll fit right in. Personally, I can't listen to techno for that long.

The best place to be after 1 am

Let me sum up a bit. The OZ has been around forever and a day and still going strong. This is the best place to be after 1am. Great djs... Dj Reece is the best!! always good music great drinks. not sure if i like the remodel they did a while back but its still fun. i always have a blast. check out the vip and the patio while your there. Remember to bring your sunglasses youll more than likely be there till they close. and we all know that the sun is our worst enemy after a long night of drinking. best time to go is usually thursday through sunday. go hit the landing, westport or cenral west end then head for the east side the fun has just begun!!!
