Is the secret in the sauce or the side dishes? That's what you'll find out at this Old Irving Park eatery, which showcases its passion for pulled pork, ribs, brisket and more. Smoque BBQ cooks meat ''low and slow,'' in order for customers to get the full-on effect of barbecue. For example, the brisket spends 15 hours in the smoker, making it ultra moist and tender. Diners can order it by the platter, by the pound or on a sandwich. Ribs, of course, rule here too, as they use a Memphis-style dry rub over the St. Louis and Baby Back ribs. There are also pulled pork and chicken options, but for those who cannot decide, they are encouraged to order a ''side meat'' of their favorite for an additional $3 or $4. Side dishes include home-style mac and cheese, BBQ beans, coleslaw and cornbread.

I have been to Smoque twice in the last several months. I had to wait 1/2 hour for take-out, but it was worth every minute.. The next time I phned in my order and just picked it up. They have the best ribs I have tatsed in a long time. I dorve 25 minutes to get there, would drive an hour!!!!

Had some of the best Brisket I ever tasted service was outstanding people were very concerned and wanted you to have a great experience.Side dishes were great also,corn bread mac and the beans were to die for.Will most certainly return.

Best pulled pork I have EVER had! Mac & Cheese is also amazing! Although we waited an hour the staff seemed to going as quick as they could to get people served. Owners come to tables to check on you. Great customer service. Beef brisket is also good. Can't say it is as good as in Texas but damn near close!

Among the best I've had - weven in the south. The meat is tender, the sauce just spicy and sweet enough. Even the sides are great. . . french fries from REAL potatoes, cornbread that's closer to a hush puppy than others i've had, the slaw is just right with a little tang. I am lucky that my daughter lives several blocks from there. My husband and I order takeout and go visit. (My son was in Austin last year shortly after Smoque opened and the Austinites were talking about the new place in Chicago.)
