Consistently just very good
Add CommentBest crab legs!
My girlfriend and I went to Shaw's because i have heard from others that they have the best crab legs in town. We weren't disappointed. Reservations were made for 6pm on a Saturday. We arrived on time and was seated immediately. The concierge offered to check in our coat for us which i thought was a nice touch. I can tell they wanted us to know we'll be taken care of at Shaw's. The waiter was very knowledgeable of the menu, very polite and did a fabulous job. The food was incredible. We both ordered the Alaskan king crab. The sizes of these legs were so huge and delicious. We both felt we have eaten the best crab ever in our lives. I definitely got my moneys worth. Hands down the best in the city, if not the entire Midwest. I highly recommend Shaw's Crab House for its fresh food and excellent service.
Getting What You Pay For

OK, so - I'm a native Chicagoan, that doesn't mean I don't know my seafood. Shaw's has been giving value for what they've on offer for many years. Sadly, with the profound development of Michigan Avenue and the western fringes of the Loop, the popularity of this well deserving establishment can mean waits. The do take reservations and a Jefferson to the hostess can sometimes facilitate...things. The oyster bar can provide the full menu on offer, as can the bar area, so, unless you have to sit in the main dinning room, you can usually be accommmodated without much fuss. The quality of the seafood is as good {and in some cases far better} here on the 3rd Coast / at Shaw's as that which I've had on either of our other coasts. Inexpensive - it isn't, however, if you want to get what you pay for, by all means - this is the place in the heart of Chicago. Incidentally, their establishment in the northern subsurbs / Deerfield closed some time ago. Also, if you can't wait / get into Shaw's - depending on the day and hour, you can slip next door for some Jazz while you wait. Bon appetite.
You call this service?

As my wife arrived on 4/14/06 to meet me at Shaw's, she fell, by pure
accident.
One manager instantly came with pen and paper asking name,
address, phone, etc. I stated that he can get this info later, as we
knew that my wife's wrist/arm was broken, and that we were heading
to the hospital. Then another man followed us out the door, to the curb
asking the same questions. We gave him the brush off as we crossed
the street to a near by hotel to get a cab. Shaw's wanted info, but
never bothered to ask for, or help us to get a cab - including the valet!
If this is the the same care that they give their food service, we won't
be back. FYI, my wife's arm is now set, and her corrective surgury is
scheduled on Tuesday. Thank you Shaw' for your help and concern.the best food ive ever tasted
because of the work that i do, i dont get out much, but a friend took me out for my birthday last year and brought me to Shaws Crab House. It was literally the best food Ive ever tasted. It was a bit pricey but ohh so worth it. The food was literally orgasmic! I would probably eat there twice a week if I could.
Pricey but excellent
I was in Chicago this week and visited Shaw's with friends. We had reservations. We were seated immediately. The service was fabulous. The restaurant was wall to wall people especially since it was snowing heavily out.
We ordered appetizers. THey arrived promptly and were delicious. The wine steward was very helpful.
Yes, the menu is pricey, but if you want quality, top of the line seafood it is well worth it. Will return again next time I am in chicago.Just Looking
I'm from out of town looking for a good seafood place thats not to far away. After reading some of these reviews, think I will go elsewhere. Sorry
