Little Italy legend serves up hearty Italian specialties in a cozy, comfortable setting.

After nearly 30 years, it's still good, hearty and garlicky. The original in the chain of local Italian eateries, The Rosebud goes for a cozy living-room feel with a dining room with faux-wood-paneled walls, low ceilings and library shelves. An oversize portrait of Ol' Blue Eyes, wine glass in hand, complements the feel of Old World Italian hospitality. The menu boasts range of Italian specialties (caprese salad, fettuccine Alfredo, linguine with clams) and Rosebud signatures (homemade cavatelli, chicken Vesuvio). Homemade noodles make all the difference in meaty, baked lasagna, and pasta portions are big enough to feed the whole family. End with a delicious, liquored-up tiramisu.

The portions are large, but the food is flavorless. The fett. alfedo was not as good as mac & cheese.

  • True old world Italian

    Review rating : 5out of 5   valorieoliver - 02/15/2007

The bread is traditional and delicious. The portions are indeed too large for most people but that does not impact the quality. We have eaten there often and have never been really disappointed. The one comment I read that I do agree with is that the calamari is not consistent in sweetness and tenderness. That is the only fault I have found. So order everything else.

  • Veal Scaloppini

Their veal scaloppini is the best I've ever had. Some of the best Italian I've ever had. And as Waltz says in the Godfather, "I've had it all over the world!" Much better than any place in Little Italy NY. I like their bar as well.

  • Everything tastes the same

Instead of ungodly portions of food, Rosebud should consider improving the quality of food. I ordered the Calamari, I did receieve about 10 pounds of it, but it was salty and chewy. The Veal was dry and grainy like a cheap pork chop. The Tiramisu was very unoriginal. Olive Garden gives huge portions of marginal food for a third of the cost.
