The Pasta Bowl has been a Lincoln Park staple for inexpensive Italian fare for years. But now with the addition of "The Other Side," it has an identically tight and cozy bar and grill, as well.
The menu at both interconnected sides of the restaurant is rich in quality pastas and sandwiches, usually prepared in 10 to 20 minutes. Young professionals in nearby apartment buildings flock to the Bowl for fresh bruschetta and Caprese salad. The classic Cappellini Pomodoro (angel hair with fresh tomato marinara, basil and mozzarella) is the favorite dish of many patrons. Farfalle Pollo (bow-tie pasta with chicken and both sun-dried and fresh tomatoes) comes in a close second. The Other Side offers hamburgers, Italian sandwiches, and martini and draft beer specials on weekends. Owners Greg Steack and Christian McDermott have also added a "Bona Vita" (good life) menu of pasta dishes prepared -- as always, by chefs right behind the bar -- without oil, butter or cheese and served in fat-free marinara.
Don't forget to leave your credit cards at home, because Pasta Bowl only accepts cash.

A favorite (they even catered my wedding)

It is always a treat to eat here, and I was so impressed with them that I had them cater my wedding. (They did a fabulous job for an unbeatable price, and we had tons of compliments on the food!) I have tried a wide variety of their dishes, and I haven't been disappointed with any of them. The portions are huge for some of the meals, as another reviewer commented, but it means I really look forward to lunch the next day.
Add CommentUmmm....someone's complaining?
I can't believe someone is complaining about the portions being too big! haha What a joke. I've gotta try this place out. I haven't yet, so I just rated it what the average member rating is....just had to say something about it though.
$5.50 lunch speacials
Good food for a great price!! Make sure you inquire about their lunch special menu.
Great food
You can sit in the bar next door and order off the pasta bowl menu, all great food and the bartenders are awesome
Great food..for less
I thought the pasta bowl had amazing food. For less than you would pay at a better known resturant you get the same great taste a qulity. You get great food, with great service for less. Now tell me whats better than that? Also it has a great bar next to it, owned by the same people and now instead of just pasta they have pizza.
wasnt that cheap
I went to the Pasta Bowl about 3 years ago so maybe it has changed. The problem was it was about 12 dollars a person. Now for dinner I guess that would be ok, but those are the lunch prices too. Also the portion size is huge! No one should eat that much in one sitting.
