The Scene
More than four years after opening its doors, Nine still draws Chicago's beautiful people by the roomful to its glam dining area and hip upstairs Ghost Bar. All glass, mirrors, brown suede and shiny silver, the cavernous, super-sleek space is centered around a granite champagne and caviar bar supported by pillars that shimmer like disco balls. Service flows smoothly.
The Food
The contemporary American fare is consistently excellent. The two cones appetizer is fabulous, one overflowing with tuna tartare, another with chunks of lobster and avocado. Rock shrimp are delightfully crispy, with a mellow tobiko aioli and a Vietnamese pepper sauce that's devilishly hot. Ahi tuna is perfectly pink inside; New York sirloin is charbroiled to perfection. Desserts--including dreamy profiteroles and luscious Valhrona chocolate cake--are all worth saving room for.

N9NE is definitely a TEN!

I came to N9ne for lunch the other day and was blown away by the beautiful restaurant. The iceberg wedge salad was a delicious starter and my chicken sandwich, I can honestly say, was the best sandwich I've ever eaten. Overall, restaurant was beautiful, food was fantastic, and the staff was very friendly! I will definitely be going back!
Add CommentGreat Place!
My Mom, my best friend and I visited Chicago for my birthday. When we were there, we visited Nine. I don't know what you guys were talking about when you said you didn't like it, because I did. They made me two special desserts and took us on a tour of the whole place where other people couldn't regularily go. The service was awesome, and did you notice that when you sat on the toilets and looked to your left, there was a personal flat screen TV? It was a really awesome experience and I highly recommend going there!

the nine is just one point from a ten .I will never patronize this overrated establishment as far as
conerned Good luck!to whomever plans to visit the Ten. Oh! the NINE....Worst service in town
If you like overpriced, small portions and a half a drink served by the worst servers in town, this is the place for you!

Pre show dinner 11/21/03. Very fine service attuned to when you must leave for a show curtain time. My wife's filet was outstanding, my porterhouse very ordinary. Salads okay, and lobster bisque, although tasty and smartly served, was watery. Over modern decor gets old fast, and stop he Euro fashon runway music.... please.

I am sorry that I went here. It looks cool. However, everyone is very stuck up - like they have something to prove. Food was very average, certainly not worth the price. And stay away from the fries - they're like shoestring potatoes from a can! The menu descriptions were inaccurate. One positive is that they have a good wine list. Service was ok until our waiter "accidentaly" dropped a $50 bill from our check and tried to rip us off.
GRACEOTRL's Review
We didn't ahve a problem with the service even considering it was a busy Saturday night. For appetizers, we the grilled scallops and a lobster bisque, which was very good; for entrees, we had the Alaskan King Crab legs, which was also very good, but I could've have done without all those "fried potatoe strings"; the other entree was the salmon; desserts were the best; this restaurant is really a place to "see and be seen", very chic, good-looking people to scope, etc.

nice setting, but the food and the service need improvement. Many other restaurants much better for the money. Wouldn't re-visit
