Oh, what will you do as you wait 30, 45 or even 60 minutes for a table at this palace for pizza? Catch up on your reading, of course. At Gino's East, you can scroll the signatures and graffiti that past patrons have left etched into the tables and scribbled on the walls. It'll distract you as your stomach rumbles and rumbles on for the deep-dish pies Gino's East is famous for. At the River North digs (it was in the Streeterville neighborhood for a number of years before moving here in 2000), they've tried to duplicate the atmosphere the original parlor had, from the hardwood booths to the old-fashioned service. The new location offers a newer, glitzier feel, thanks to the fact that it was the former home of Planet Hollywood. And it's still as boisterous as ever, with tablesful of young people, families and tourists snarfing down large amounts of cheese, sausage, spinach and specialty pizzas.

Add CommentThe best deep dish pizza

Visit Chicago once a year and can't leave without having Gino's sausage patty pizza. It's the best!!!!

Fourgetaboutit!!!!
My New York point of veiw sez its not real Pizza if the doe is not made out of semolina. Maybe in the midwest cornmeal flour will cut it. I still cant imagine why it takes 45 minutes to prepare and cook a pizza!
Geno not #1
I don't know what all the fuss is about Geno's. I much prefer Uno. I wonder why they are not on the list to vote for. Malnotti's is better than Geno, but not better than Uno.
The Best
While I would admit that I was a BIG fan of the old original location, because of its memories, the new place is great too. I have eaten stuffed, thick, thin and every stop in between at probably every pizza place in Chicago (Okay, well not all of them) and Gino's East along with Uno and Due's rank at the top. Consistently good product and lots of fun.
Malnati's and Girodano's thick and stuffed pizza suffer in comparison - although they are both good pizzas. For thin style, there are many good places including this polls leader, Home Run Inn.
Hey, Chicago, we have great pizza places!Horrible thick, good thin

I hate their Chicago style. It's nauseating. Once you've had Lou's everything else sucks. But the thin crust... wow. That is some good pizza. I never understood how they got famous for the thick pizza when the thin was the clear winner. Crispy, bursting with flavor, always perfectly topped. Easily one of the best in the city (or suburbs). But the thick is so bad I can't give this place more then 3 stars til they take it off the menu! :)
Nothing compares to Gino's.......
I went here for the first time on my first date with the love of my life. I will never forget it. The atmosphere is unique and unforgettable, the service was excellent for the amount of time you have to wait for this type of pizza and the pizza itself..............WOW!!!!! I thought I had experienced Chicago-style pizza before, but I was wrong. Nothing can compare to Gino's and we used to travel to Chicago on every special occasion just for the pizza. AMAZING.........you will not regret it!!!
