Aside from a few renovations here and there, the overall decor of the venerable River North steakhouse has not changed since it opened in 1941. Gene & Georgetti's expansion to a second level, however, has doubled its occupancy as steak- and Italian-cuisine lovers pack in daily for hearty portions of both. From legendary entertainers and professional athletes (Jackie Mason, Frank Sinatra) to conventioneers in town for major events, the restaurant has always been a big draw for those with deep pockets. Strong recommendations include the porterhouse, chicken Vesuvio, garbage salad and pork chops.

Grumpy Waiters serve great food!

While famous for steaks, this is also a great restaurant for Italian cuisine.
While the waiters seem grumpy, they have hearts of gold and give great service!Add CommentBy far the best place in town

True Chicago

We have been going to G & G's for 20+ years. Have travelled all over the country, not a better steakhouse. This is authentic Chicago. Not only are the Steaks outstanding, but the Ravioli's are amazing. Love the bread sticks and the house salad. I would like a bigger drink.
Had much Better!
Went here for a special event. Service was terrible. Steaks were barely edible as they were fatty and grissly. We were stuck in a corner and ignored. I could make better steaks on my grill! Disappointing and would never go back. Want a good steak?? Go to Wildfire.
PS:
And if you should, by some odd chance, find your steaks tough, take your complaints to Allen Brothers. They're the tip of the top of steak purveyors in the world and we've never had a bad steak from them. GG's lamb chops are the BEST in the city. We actually get cravings for their house and garbage salads and cottage fried potatoes. As they say: One man's meat is another's hamburger.
