Diners who plan to go to the AMC are recommended to arrive an hour early as it takes time to enjoy the slow-smoked specials that has the 'hood hog wild. The cool rib shack offers a homey and laid-back setting for folks to dig into hearty portions of beef brisket, ribs, pulled pork sandwiches, chicken and a juicy BBQ burger. Dipping sauces come in mild and hot. Lighter appetites will appreciate the selection of flavorful salads. Fat Willy's dessert special is a heaping portion of a fudge cake ice cream sundae served in a hot-cast iron skillet. Alcoholic beverages include beer, wine and an oversized margarita.

    My favorite for rib tips. The sauce is perfect, the spicy is just as good, with a little heat. I mix the reg and spicy, it goes on everything! Parking is tough on the street, the movie parking lot is across the street. Try them on mondays-wednesdays, easier to get a seat. EVERYTHING on the menu is excellent and home made.

    My son flew in from NY & prior to his arrival I researched ribs. I narrowed it down to 2, Carson's & Fat Willy's. On Thursday we went to Carson's, the food was ok, nothing to write home about. On Friday we went to Fat Willy's. OMG!!! Yes, the place looks like a bomb shelter but that actually added to the charm. The server we had was a sweetheart! She couldn't have been more on her game & had a winning personality & smile. THE RIBS WERE TO DIE FOR!! The smokey flavor, the crispy outside, the delicate texture of the meat. AMAZING. My son was extremely happy & so was I. I will be a regular!! FAT WILLY'S ROCKS!!!!

    The reviews are a bit misleading. First of all, hubby and I drove 15 miles on a Saturday afternoon to go there because we heard about the BBQ'd brisket. What the reviews and website don't tell you is that the brisket isnt even available until 5:00PM. The windows were filthy and the tables were dirty. My husband, who is a chef..and therefore knows kitchens..went into the kitchen, came back out and said he didnt want to stay there. Maybe we got them on a bad day...you decide. Shack is approprate for this place.

    I have not eaten here yet. I fully intend to thougha s many people I know in Chicago love it.

    Here is what I want to say though because the AOL system of best in Chicago (or any city) SUCKS. They use their own people to make the nominations. We (the customers) cannot even nominate a restaurant. But where it asks if a restaurant can pay to get on the list, AOL responds by saying contact their advertising department. This is NO WAY to select a best of Chicago list. I intend to do my own real one as soon as I put together my site to do it.

    Once again, I have heard this place is excellent and certainly am looking forward to trying it. Rich
