Originally opened as an Anheuser-Busch bar in 1921, Eddie Scholar bought the tavern in 1981 and turned it into one of the most beloved and successful bars in St. Louis history. Though it's more or less a blue-collar watering hole for the locals, folks from all over the metro area will drive the distance to Alton, Ill., for the great deals on suds and grub. Fast Eddie's claims to serve more than 4,000 half-barrels of beer a year, and despite the size of the place, the constant standing-room-only crowds are the only testimony one needs to verify such an insane amount of sales. The selection at the food bar is also notorious, serving items like the Big Elwood on-a-stick, Hot Chick on-a-stick, gigantic bratwursts and more -- and everything is under $3. Live music always entertains Thursday through Sunday, so after you've loaded up on all the basic food groups, prepare to party hardy with the band.

I love Fast Eddies! It is a fun place.... All ages, from 21 to 70! The food is very good....Very very crowed and never a place to sit endless you get there early.....The bartenders half are so sweet the other are rude and need an attitude adjustment..... The waitresses are great and work very hard!!!!!!:)

St. Louis' ONLY place to see bikers, boaters, bimbos, suits, formal gowns, workin' folks, party chics, oldsters and even "normal" folks ALL in the same place....elbow to elbow....with no hassles....and everyone having a great time. Unbelievable food. $25 will get you (and yours) a belly full of food (gotta get the Big Elwood!!!)....numerous adult beverages....not to mention a thorough workout on the dance floor. Best seat in the house is to the left of the band stand...if you wait for a seat to open....OR...immediately across from the front door. You won't believe what or who you see there!

A fun place to go for a date, to take a group from work, or just catch up with old friends. Food is unbeatable, especially for the prices. Drinks aren't any more expensive than at other bars: if you eat as well, you get your money's worth! Worth the drive!
