800 Bourbon St
New Orleans, LA 70116

Enter Oz and there is no mistaking: You are nowhere near Kansas anymore, Dorothy. With multiple floors (the entry-level dance floor is cavernous), absolutely booming music and frenetic lighting, this is dance central on Bourbon Street. The crowd, the music and the lights often spill out into the street. If you need a break from the bump and grind, there is a quieter bar upstairs that opens onto a large wraparound balcony, offering plenty of socializing space. The balcony also offers an excellent view of Bourbon. Oz stays crowded late, and the energy level never dips. Plus, there are different special events every night of the week, such as the Gay Gong Show, Men of Manwatch dancers, Drag Bingo, Dancer of the Week and a Calendar Boy Contest. The cover fluctuates depending on that night's entertainment, and is higher than most places on Bourbon, so check that out before you get in line. Oz is gay-friendly but hardly gay-exclusive. The man behind the curtain is all about the boogie, baby, which makes Oz a must for clubbing aficionados. -- Bill Loehfelm

LOVE the Oz., and no Im not a GM
Love the Oz!
If you have an issue with the club 'favoring' young gay males then you are completely in a fog...HELLO? The Oz is a "gay bar"...
Many occasions have I had a blast at the Oz and never have I been slighted or felt uncomfortable. The club is what it is, like it or not, take it or leave it. The sound system is the best in the city, hands down.
Whe my girlfriends asked me where I wanted to go for my bachelorette party I said, without hesitation "I dont care where we start but I want to end the night at the Oz". We had the best time and I felt like a "queen" (no pun intended as I was constantly congratulated and told what a beautiful bride I would make. A bartender even gave my friends and I shots!
So to you who have ever felt slighted or uncomfortable, sorry my dear, but the problem is more than likely YOU and not THEMComments(0)|Add CommentThe Dark Side
If you find yourself walking past Oz. Unless you live the alternate life style. Turn Around :)
If you only want to go to dance or a special event fine.
Biance would be their only reason I would step into the joint or the view. Drinks are overpriced. Mgt. and bartenders offensive to straight people, EXPECIALLY WOMEN, and anyone over 35 yrs old (Max) A place where the music is repetious and they cater to young gay boys.
Oz is only pro gay men. Women are charged double admission
I used to frequent OZ for many years. They only cater to men, men dancers. The ONLY good part is the sound system and the beautiful building they have. Plus one dive who is a great announcer. You can have fun there if you are there for a special event. Otherwise go across the street to a friendlier and more relaxed bar, The PUB! It has the same great view from the balacony! Not so unfriendly to women!
