Pull into the curb-service area of The Varsity, and before you can turn off the ignition, a server in a paper Varsity hat will be sticking the familiar manila-colored Varsity service card under your windshield wiper. There are senior citizens in this city who have enjoyed Varsity chili cheese dogs, onion rings, fresh-cut french fries, the patented Frosted Orange and fried pies since they were teenagers (the restaurant was founded in 1928).
Meals are served on window trays, and for those who dine inside the Art Deco facade, the service is just as quick, well organized and courteous, and large groups are welcome. Despite being the fastest fast-food restaurant on the skyline, The Varsity makes many of its dishes from scratch, including its chili, a favorite addition to the burgers, which may not be the biggest in town, but are some of the tastiest. And since its fried foods are prepared with cholesterol-friendly canola oil, you shouldn't feel too bad about ordering a mountain of those fresh-cut fries to go with your burger.
The Varsity's signature red-and-white hats and paper plates and cups are so beloved that people have been known to throw Varsity parties, with these items (and collectibles and apparel) purchased from the on-site gift shop. -- Edna McCown

Chili Dogs

What do those Varsity folks put in the hotdog chili, chystal meth? Those puppies are addictive!

It is an Atlanta landmark and an eating experience to see. The volume, photos, and atmosphere is worth seeing. But the grease is dripping off of everything because they are so busy. If you eat at noon, you are still burping at 6:00. Prepare your stomach before you go!
Nostalgia and Nausea

If you have never been to this place, and have no fond memories of it growing up or with friends, avoid it. The food is greasy, quantities small, and menu limited. I was looking for good diner food and got none of the three. Its an experience, not a meal. The only caveat is that the fries are fresh and deep fried in something unhealthy - so are pretty good. The Chili is passable, the burgers little better than Mickey D's, and hot dogs just like those at Publix.
Good fast food

The Varsity is a favorite of mine but I must say it is not cheap. How did it make this selection ?
Truly Unique!
In this world of cookie cutter, follow-the-leader fast food places it's oh-so refreshing to still have this unique, fun place to scarf down non-politically correct goodies! Did I mention the Georgia Tech coeds are kinda easy on the eye, too?
It's just plian, old down-home GOOD! (but all of us who knew Flossie-Mae will always miss the hats)The Varisty rules

This is my very favorite place in the world to eat when I want fries dripping with grease, and sometimes I do want just that. I love the chiliburgers too. But I am an Atlanta native and I remember my mama taking me there when I was tiny so I think the Varsity might be an acquired taste. I have taken out of town guests and they didn't seem impressed with the culinary delights. I still take them because it is an experience if nothing else ... and because I love any excuse to go.
HORRIBLE II

My chilli dog and burger aws so salty and dried which looked like made one week ago. Wonder why so many Atlanta people are told like this horrible food. never advise anyone to go for that worst food.
FANTASTIC !!!!!
My wife & I crave the chili dogs & fries !!!!! We always visit and take a box home when in Atlanta
HORRIBLE
I have no idea why this place is talked about so much. The food is horrible!!!!! Easily the worst burger I have ever had. The prices are really cheap, but this is a great example of the old adage..."you get what you pay for."
