The entrance to the Little Five Points location is a giant skull that swallows you whole. Get sucked in with the Vortex's extensive menu, which offers nearly every beer you can think of. Besides 30 beers on tap, you'll find more than 210 bottled beers and more than 80 single-malt Scotches. The interior is a visual logjam, with goofy things of all sorts crawling the walls: airplanes, skeletons on motorcycles, old license plates and a big moose head for starters.
At both locations, the big, fat, juicy burgers are the main act. Topping options include blue, jack and cheddar cheese as well as homemade salsa. If burgers aren't your thing, you'll find good chicken, fish and shrimp options plus generous deli sandwiches. Vegetarians can chose a black bean or veggie burger. For compromisers, there's a good turkey burger. Lunchtime hosts mostly business folk, but it draws in the younger set at night. -- Stephanie Boozer & Judith Augustine

Best Burger
We went there for my birthday to check out the "Best Burger" reputation. It WAS the best burger I have ever had at a restaurant. The service was just fine, and the beer was good, too. I highly recommend it. Also, if you sign up for their email newsletter, they give you a free MEAL on your birthday, not just an entree. The burger and plate full of fries was two meals for me, and the deli pickles are great.

Bad Service left a bad taste!!!!!!!

I have yet to try this location! But the Mid-town location was a turn off! The people were rude and distant. And one young lady was just plain nasty. I was so turn off by atmosphere, I just turn and politely walked away. I have no idea if the burgers is as good as they say. I didn't get that far! But it did leave a bad taste in my mouth! I did get a good burger that day from a place that was warm and welcoming and treated me with respect!!!
Highly Overrated
Vortex's burgers are highly overrated. They are dry and ordinary. The staff varies from indifferent to downright nasty. To the poster that asked why they rate so highly, some of those surveys are done by that free intown newspaper, and they seem to be well connected there.
GMTry something NEW
Since they don't allow me to vote for the place I WANT, let's all try Rheas with locations in Roswell and Alpharetta. Good burgers. Fast. The only problem is you get it THEIR way or they'll give you directions to the highway.
Not That Great

Have never understood why they win Best Burger every year... I find them not that big, Roxx and Amsterdam have bigger, and better, burgers. So did the Red Chair, altho it's no longer in existence. And the waitstaff... I find Goth and piercings not to my liking when I'm sitting down to eat. Call me old-fashioned, I don't care for that.
where's the pow
i find it quite ordinary, the burgers were way better at six feet under, but the restaurant itself if nice, but i with the title "best burger" i expected wayyyyyy more.
Still searching

I tried them about 3 months ago, based on reviews. They offer a wide variety of condiments for the burger but it tasted like an unseasoned burger with alot of stuff ontop. Give me an in-n-out anyday, and their burgers are less expensive. I guess I have to go back west for that, so I'm still searching for a good burger in Atlanta. We'll see!!!
