This being Atlanta, you needn't ask who Ted is -- the answer being Ted Turner, of course, media mogul, sports aficionado, Montana rancher. And that last description brings us to Ted's Montana Grill, of which there are many, not only in the Atlanta area, but in Columbus, Ohio, Nashville and Denver as well. These smoke-free restaurants serve up "21st century comfort food" for lunch and dinner, featuring 20 different beef and bison burgers, blue-plate specials, beef filets, salads and roasted "beer can chicken," plus cedar-planked steelhead salmon. Not to mention the homemade cookies and shakes.

Ted's Montana Grills follow the Craftsman-style design popular at the turn of the last century, and individual Ted's locations boast their own special character: in Atlanta the downtown Ted's on Luckie St. has a "Ted's Take-Away" area, featuring the full menu, while the midtown Ted's offers retail sales of freshly ground, and filets of, bison, marinated chicken breasts and the popular "half-sour" pickles found at each location. -- Edna McCown

My partner recently had a heart episode, so no more beef. We can live it up at Ted's because bison is so healthy. And I don't usually care for hamburgers, but could live on Ted's bison burgers. I also love the bison short ribs - another dish I haven't eaten for years because the beef version is so fatty. On our last visit, our server seemed to be new and the rest of the staff checked in to make sure we got everything we needed. Great teamwork!

I tried the beef burger my first time at Ted's and was amazed. It was the best of the best burgers, Service was just barely okay.

After going to the Ga Aquarium we decided to eat at Ted's. I was surprised that the prices were reasonable and the food was very good to those in the party that would comment. The service was ok.

I don't know how this place stays in business. I recently visited a Ted's Montanna. I had absolutely the worst service and the hambuger tasted like something from waffle house. This place the worst burger

little known facts that make a great burger is the only way these guys do burgers (and everything else)...fresh fresh fresh. fresh never frozen beef and/or bison ground in house two times a day, everyday. loosley packed and cooked under a dome for great even cooking and seasoned three times or to your liking. the bison montana is my personal favorite. i will be going there for lunch dinner today for sure.

They may not have the "best burgers" around, but their chili is better than Mom's (don't tell her please!)
